UNC lost several seniors, a couple of which were very good, but none of which were their very best players anyway. They lost several juniors and a freshman, all of which were their best players. They lost their top 7 scorers (which has NEVER happened to ANY team in the entire history of the ACC conference). Their highest scorer returning from last year's team averaged just over 3 points per game last year. Also, they weren't ranked in the pre-season or for a good portion of the regular season. Other than that and your comment that Roy Williams is way overrated, though, your facts are 100% accurate. :shakehead:

Roy Williams appears to be the overwhelming favorite for Coach Of The Year honors, but Lofton is neck and neck with Glen Davis for SEC Player Of The Year.

yeah they lost their top 7 scorers but they get the best players so it doesnt really matter. they can reload.

Check out the results for the Big East Player of the Year. I've never heard of that guy, lol.

Tony Soprano graduated from Rutgers, that could have something to do with it I guess...

Look at Douby's numbers. He probably is the Player of the Year. The really good Big East teams are balanced, so nobody shines as an individual.

they lost a lot, but they probably have 4 times the talent in freshman then we have now. i hate to say it but that is true. the big schools keep getting it in. i dont see why no one thought unc was going to be good. in basketball, you can win a good junk of games with freshman. if you told me unc would be here i wouldnt be surprised.

i remember people saying (including me) nit would be a huge acomplishment.

What are his numbers? I'm guessing he's averaging about 25 a game?

Kinda surprised Hilton Armstrong wasn't on that list, but not more surprised than I was that Rondo was on the SEC PotY list.

UNC doesn't play street ball like Arizona, as an example. While many freshmen have gone to Arizona and lead the PAC-10 in scoring during their freshman season, freshmen are usually lucky to see ANY significant playing time in UNC's system. Had Carolina's entire team not departed early for the NBA, the only one of these guys that would have been seeing more than just a couple minutes of playing time would be Hansbrough. Carolina was widely picked in the preseason to finish about 7th or 8th in the ACC this year.

Another reason that Roy Williams is going to win the National Coach of the Year award rather than Pearl is that UNC has been playing its best ball over the last month of the season, while UT is fading down the back stretch.

This isn't a UNC board. All the orange should tip you off.

Please name an Arizona player who has led the Pac 10 in scoring as a freshman.

UCONN is so deep it is almost impossible to pick one guy. Douby averaged 20+. He had a run of games where he probably averaged 28+ for 10.

I agree, with a caveat. Any injury or foul trouble for Marcus Williams would stop them cold.
