Moderators, please merge if this has been posted elsewhere, but "X" on Tony Basilio's show posted an excellent overview of his perspective on our chances with a host of offensive and defensive line prospects, both high school seniors and JUCOs. Like Coach Matthews, he is anticipating as many as four new commitments by the Orange & White game. See The Tony Basilio Show.

Summary for those who can't open it please.

Words, words, words. Lots of love for Butch Jones, great excitement around the program, but needs some big uglies before Butch Jones really starts turning heads on the recruiting trail.

Yada, yada. Advertisements. Bets Butch Jones would take 41 in this class if he could.

More orange-tinted glasses crap. Lots and lots of italicization, bolding, and underlying.

Then he categorizes some of the big guys under Offense and Defense and predicts Tennessee's standing with them.

Worth noting is;
Alex Bars, 4 star OL out of Nashville, and his connection to Notre Dame as a legacy. Says it will be hard to overcome ND, but Vols are in it.

Dontavius Blair, 6'8" 300 lb JUCO OL out of AL, says his relationship with Coach Thigpen should suit the Vols well.

Derek Barnett gets mention as a potentially great DE prospect and the Vols are in the "thick of it" with the 3 star ATH from TN.
Derek Barnett - Yahoo! Sports

Petera Wilson, 4 star LB prospect from TN, says it will be a battle for Tennessee to beat off Alabama, Florida, and Ohio State who have all offered. Says he sees a high ceiling with Wilson and could be a potential DE as well.
Petera Wilson - Yahoo! Sports

Michael Sawyers, the state's "best DT prospect for 2014", is one to keep an eye on, but holds no offer from Tennessee.
Michael Sawyers - Yahoo! Sports

Dewayne Hendrix, a 4-star DE prospect, has strong ties to Tennessee as he used to live in Memphis. Some speculate that the Vols lead, but it's still early. OSU just offered and he has family in Colombus. Hendrix will be down for the O&W game.
Dewayne Hendrix - Yahoo! Sports

Poona Ford, 3-star out of SC, is mentioned as a horse race between South Carolina and Tennessee, with SC having the edge.
Poona Ford - Yahoo! Sports

He then mentions a half dozen other prospects who we have offered but haven't been on campus yet. Says TN has been offering like crazy but that has finally fizzled out due to spring practice. As soon as spring practice ends, he says, look out for TN to start throwing out more offers.

:ermm:

I don't like the sound of that.. I don't want Tennessee beating off anyone for a recruit.

So basically, " x" is a reader of volnation. I swear he gets his info here. Its prob tb who invented x to avoid accountability. I would too I guess if I was as wrong as often as him. I mean, how can you take " journalism" seriously if the reporter is too scared to reveal his name? Has x ever broken any story that wasn't first hinted at on here?

I know many dont care to much about Basilio, but the cat is fun to hang with. I went to the first NCAA tourney game in Pearls first year when we lost to Whichta State first round, and the guy is a lot of fun to be around.

X thinks the Dline coach and Oline coach cannot recruit in the SEC. He says that it is questionable that this current staff is going to be able to get it done over the long haul on the recruiting trail. Hmmm. And why does an expert go by X?

"X" in the past was used to indicate that a person couldn't sign their name. It would be my guess that is this person's "mark" because they can't write their name.
"Basilio" is a hard name to remember and spell.

Excellent synopsis. Another comment that really stood out concerned current commit, Coleman Thomas. X describes Thomas as "analogous to Alabama signing Barrett Jones. I think Thomas has a chance to be that good and before his career is over."
