I downloaded NBA2K from the marketplace, so it's saved to the hard drive. I start a game and about 5 minutes in, the console shuts off and I get two red rings. Which indicates that the console is overheating. Yet I can play any of my games off a disc for hours. This makes no sense to me considering the console has to work harder and generates more heat from spinning a disc.

Any solutions?

And no, I don't want a PS3.

I just solved my own problem. I have two hard drives, switched hard drives and downloaded my profile on the other hard drive. Now downloading NBA2K again.

Not sure why I didn't think of this before. Still puzzled as to why my original hard drive overheats from a downloaded game and not when I play off a disc.

One of those things. I've got battlefield on my HDD, but it plays it off the disk either way.

While we're on the topic of XBox issues, anybody have trouble with their youtube app freezing the entire console?

The two light indication does not always mean overheating.................it will also indicate a hardware failure somewhere...i.e HDMI cable halfway plugged in, HDD failing, etc
