Hopefully this makes finding a year card for <$30 a lot easier, and perhaps even lower on the good sales.

The free thing will always be thrown out, but there is "NO" comparison to the XBL & PSN.

Well, as more info has come out, it appears MS is claiming this is a limited price drop. They didn't specify the end, but said it wasn't permanent.

Guess we'll see....

Sounds like I might have perfect timing seeing as my live is up for renewal this month

Sort of. 3 different retailers over the last month have had 13 month cards on sale for $29.99 for a week (Best Buy, Toys R Us, Sears). And, that's a 13 month card versus buying 12 for $39.99 straight off Live.

I don't believe they are on sale this week outside the Best Buy year starter kit with chatpad (and Gotham Racing 4) for $49.99.

Newegg.com pretty much always has the 12+1 cards for $39.99. TN residents have to pay tax.

well, it must have already ended because I had to pay $49.99 for mine yesterday at Best Buy. But I did get my wireless adaptor for $20 less than I was anticipating, so all in all, I came out $10 ahead of where I figured I would.

$39.99 price is from buying directly on the xbox through the live service, not a store.

And buy.com/newegg always have 13 month cards for $39.99.
