This is the dumbest thing......my brother and I cannot hold private chats with each other and we cannot set up a game with each other for some reason. I can private chat with others and also play all the games online with anyone else I want. Same with him. Support doesn't seem to have an answer for me. My brother was told that maybe we need to remove each other as friends and wait 24 hours to re-connect. So, we did that last night. We'll see what happens tonight maybe.

I've never had the RROD. the only issue I have with my xbox is the loud fan. But I'm sure all you PS3 fanboys will have a circle jerk later this evening.

Are you and your brother in the same house, on the same router/network? It may be a network issue, where you guys are not being assigned proper IP addresses. Perhaps xbox live thinks you guys are the "same box" and thus you can't connect.

Just throwing this out there.. maybe you can try 2 things:

1. Try inviting him to a Party.
2. Try having a mutual friend start a Party and invite you and your brother and then leave.

Another idea would be to have you and your brother delete your profiles off of both of your 360s (profile data would still remain intact) and then re-sync them with the servers. That takes about 20-30 minutes.

I only say this because if your profile is on his 360 (or vice-versa) it could be causing some kind of latent parity bug and maybe interpreting your request as a spoof of some kind.

I am at a loss, then. I have encountered that sort of thing before, but usually a restart fixes it. You guys aren't both inviting each other and trying to join simultaneously, are you?

Thats my point of view. Gameplay isnt much different, and the controllers are identical for all intents and purposes, though the 360s fits my hands better. XBox Live is a whole lot better, but i only seee it as a matter of time before Sony comes up with somethi similar to the party system.

360 was ok. honestly the only issues i had with it was what dickens said about the fan being so loud (sounded like a plane taking off at times...annoying) and i didn't want to pay to play online when i was already on the psn for free. i had it for almost a year and never got the rrod. all my friends are on psn as well so it just didn't make sense for me to keep a system i knew i wouldn't play that much. the guy that got it from me got a sweet deal, now that part i kinda regret.

Thanks. Not sure how our profiles would be on each other's 360. Parties don't work either. I think I may have us try the mutual friend thing though.

nope. it happens when either of us just originally invites. if he invites me to chat, I accept, then the screen pops up with the private chat rooms, but he is not there and vice versa.

If you've ever signed in with your profile on his 360, or vice-versa, a copy is maintained on the 360 that was signed into, as I'm sure you know.

I've had problems signing in with my profile on my friends 360s almost to the point where I won't even do it anymore. In order to do it I will have to re-sync my profile on his 360, and then on mine when I get home.

I haven't run into anything that you're describing exactly, but it could be a possibility if you've ever logged into his system, or vice-versa.
