Today, 32 days to Cal, reminds us that the #32 is retired in honor of Bill Nowling, who died in the second World War.

I'm wondering, and I'm sure one of you folks who never forgets anything you read will know.... Do other schools have similarly retired numbers?...

Jim Dunkin, linebacker #31 in 1984. This was a year that UT had a plethora of great college LB's.....Dale Jones, Carl Zander, Kelly Zeigler, Alvin Toles, and Dunkin. BTW, they played the 3-4 defense that year.

Who was coordinator then?

I'm not sure if was Marmie or Lacewell. I do know Ken Donohue came the next year (1985) and won the SEC and the Sugar Bowl. He played a 4-3 defense with Dale Jones switching to DE.

(Found the answer in an old Lindy's.......Larry Marmie.) Bonus question: Was it his first stent as DC or second?
