Re: Could Tennessee go after Holgs?
Not sure why everyone is getting so upset at the OP, he just posted the information that was out there. Sadly we are going to have to deal with this rumor mill crap everytime there is a big opening because regardless of what the blue and gold glasses wearing homers here think, WVU is still viewed as a "stepping stone" program out there in the real world.
TN has great facilities but they are past their prime as a football power nationally. They haven't been good since Manning left and although they have a great stadium and are an SEC team, it would be a lateral or worse move at best for Holgs. Same goes for Arkansas, other than a few years with Petrino and Mallet they've been an SEC doormat.
I think Holgs is where he wants to be right now and we don't have anything to worry about, but we are going to have to get used to this kind of crap with every opening that the media thinks is "big time." Personally I don't think Arkansas, Auburn, or TN are great programs right now, but the SEC media bias will pump them up like someone's dream job.
RE: Could Tennessee go after Holgs?
Tennessee is a dumpster fire, and the air raid just never has quite taken in that league.. Holgorson isnt Leach, either..ego wise.. He strikes me as a guy that might stick around a while with some love.
He is a hot coach and your fanbase will haveto deal with all the constant turmoil over job offers. But there are worse things, like losing.
Re: Could Tennessee go after Holgs?
Sorry, WVU > Tennessee
No way, Jose
Re: Could Tennessee go after Holgs?
As I said earlier in the week, TN cannot afford him.
It would probably cost them upwards of $15 M to fire Dooley, pay DH's buyout, and then get him signed.
UT had a $5 M deficit in their AD budget last year.
