Write Marcus Lattimore

Why does it matter? The circumstances are completely different, and I worry about your intelligence if you can not see this. This was probably Lattimore's last year before going pro coming off of another injury. He was a heisman candidate, and could possibly have a career ending injury. Randolph will be back next year....

I worry about your intelligence. I didn't say or even insinuate that people shouldn't write to Lattimore. I'm no different then most football fans I think Lattimore is a great young man and a class act. Maybe you should think before showing your ass next time. I doubt you will though.

Marcus,

I wish you a speedy recovery. I always love and respect a player who is willing to leave it all on the field. I hate what happened, and I hope someday to see you playing again.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said running back Marcus Lattimore had his right knee dislocated against Tennessee and the injury is something he can come back from to play football again.

Spurrier visited Lattimore on Sunday and said the junior had a good attitude about his condition. Spurrier said South Carolina team doctor Jeffrey Guy was able to put Lattimore's knee back in place soon after he was taken from the field to the hospital.

Spurrier said the injury was significant, but discounted speculation Lattimore would never play football again. Lattimore has not used a redshirt season so he could take as long as necessary to recover and still return to the Gamecocks for the 2014 season.

This is a great idea. Thank you for posting both his email and snail mail addresses.

FWIW, Hart will be getting letters USCe fans and boosters for the class that our team showed and the respect they have for us and Dooley.

Thanks Vols!

I'd also like to send a thank you to all the Vols players and coaches that walked out on the field Saturday to show Marcus their support. I've NEVER seen that in college or pro sports before. As some have said on the gamecock boards, that moment changed (for the better) the rivalry between our two schools. :good!:

I wrote him this morning. The kid has unbelievable talent and regardless of who you pull for you have to feel bad for him. I hope he can make a comeback and go League like everyone knows he can.

I think he fumbled on the play. They should have reviewed it.

Not the time or place, buddy.

Here's what I sent:

Mr. Lattimore,

Although I am a Tennessee alumnus and die-hard fan of the Volunteers, I am writing to tell you how heartbroken I am about your injury on Saturday. I can tell you that every Tennessean I've spoken with feels the same way.

If you'll permit me, I'd also like to offer you a word of encouragement. Keep your head up. I know that the road in front of you has to look pretty daunting right now. I can only imagine how unfair this must feel -- and rightly so. But I also know this: You are a man of unusual dedication and character. Opportunities have a way of presenting themselves when we least expect them. Seize them, and your life will be better than you ever imagined.

As a Tennessee fan, I hope to see you back at 100%. But I hope you know that I and a lot of other people across the country are pulling for you in whatever comes next in your life.

May God richly bless you, and bless others through you.

Not the time or place to brag about how encouraging you are either.

And no, this is a great thing to do. I'm not giving anybody a hard time. I'm glad we have some fans with such warm hearts.

But the ball did come kinda loose....

I went back watched that play and as a parent my heart broke for his parents to have to see your child get hurt no matter what their age is. I missed the replay during the game but after watching it there doesn't look like there was anything dirty that happened IMO. You can't take down a guy like Lattimore going high. He is just to stout of a back. I was so proud of the players pf both teams coming together out on the field when this young man went down.

Good news to hear that. A lot of prayers helped. Never want to see anyone get hurt no matter who we play but heard he is a great young man. One bad thing we may have to see him again. Hope next time we play SC he is playing but hopefully we are beating his team 35-7.
