since Austin Rogers is dropping so many balls, do u guys think Phil is gonna step it up and move him down the depth chart?
we cant stand for him to drop the ball on third down against Georgia! that can really cost us the game because our punt coverage sux!
so if he is bumped down. who's gonna be tha starters or get more PT!

im also stoked to see that Kenny O'Neil got his first catch! how did it look on tape? i didnt get to see tha game!
and how did Moore's catch look?

The Freshmen are still essentially not a part of our offense. None of them did anything.

O'neal isn't a freshman.

On O'neal's catch I think he was lined up in a near the tightend, right by him and behind him.. then he just ran up field 10 yards or so and did a hitch back and caught the ball - not much running room after that. Didn't remember Moore's.

I'm sick and tired of using O'neal or Vinson on crappy reverses and trick plays that never work. Atleast just give him a straight deep route and see if he can't stretch the field rather than doing crap like that.

Jones should because of his injury - Paige is planning to take on as well but that could change because of Jones or if another WR were to go down.

SO what do u guys think about Hancock! i see him playing all the time! but i hardly ever see him catch!
he looks like a good blocker because he's big and physical!

he has the Meachem type body and could very well evolve into a meachem-type player with his size and athletic ability

so why isnt ainge throwing to him more?

I'm really surprised at Hancock... they said he was the one of the most improved WR's in spring ball and now he is MIA, really strange. He's only a sophomore so hopefully he'll catch on soon.

I thought Rogers was supposed to be one of the more surehanded guys on the team.. Fulmer puts him back at PR occassionally because of his good hands. Now he's dropping balls left and right, also very strange.

I don't understand why it's so hard to send O'Neal out on a fly route. The guy can supposedly outrun anybody and I've yet to see the coaches call that. Surely he can line up right on that.

Hancock doesn't have blazing speed but he has good hands. He should start getting more reps now that Rogers has shown he drops more passes than he catches.

Paige is definitely getting a redshirt. Jones is getting one more than likely.

who else is redshirting? Donald? Brimfield? Langley? OLs?
i think CJ Fleming is getting one.

Ainge just seems comfortable with Taylor, Rogers, and Briscoe because of their route running. A lot of the throws are timing routes and these guys are in the right spots. Hancock is in for blocking and physical play. The young guys just don't know the plays well enough so far and that leads to interceptions. I agree that they should use O'Neal on fly routes, the reverses aren't working. Throw deep to him and use it as a decoy later.

Sounds like a vicious case of Leonardscott Syndrome.

Haven't you heard? You have to have 5000 practice reps before you can even begin to understand the greatness of our offense.

I'd say O'Neal will become a playmaker as a SR around next year's Alabama game, have 4 consecutive 100 yd games and get drafted in the first 2 rounds...like the rest of our WRs.

Then, they'll complain that they no longer have any playmakers like O'Neal to stretch the field. This is a broken record.

People continue to act like playing WR in the SEC is no different than running a track meet. I know some of you did not see the game. I watched the game and I'll give you one simple example. O'Neal was not in very much and yet still found time to mess up on more than one occasion. On one play in particular he was suppose to go in motion. Ainge gave the signal for him to start in motion. O'Neal just stood there. Ainge had to look out at him and yell something and give the signal again. After that, O'Neal finally went into motion. It almost cost us a penatly with the play clock ticking down. Its small but yet very important little details like that keeping O'Neal off the field. He is a great athlete and the coaches are not holding him off the field because they "dont like him."

Rogers droppsies is certainly becoming a problem. He will continue to get good playing time because he is always lined up properly, runs precise routes, and is our best blocking WR. So he better start catching what he should or else his presence on the field is going to limit our offense.

The one poster above was poking fun at needing a certain number of practice reps before getting to play. But, if you pay attention most of our throws leave Ainge's hand before the WR breaks the route and before the WR is even looking. If the route is not run the exact right yardage and at the exact right time then those throws are impossible to complete. That is another thing keeping O'Neal and Hancock from getting the ball thrown to them very often.

don't forget, austin is somewhat still a freshman as far as experience. the wr's we have are all very average in the SEC. give them time. austin willnot be moved. i would be shocked if austin is no ton the field this whole season. trooper (when he was rec.'s coach) and fulmer both raved about him last year. fulmer said last year, "with the veteran's at receiver position, we have to find a creative way to get austin on the field, he will have a place in our game plan."

I get what you are saying. Speed is a great thing to have as you run the route in the wrong direction, or two yards to deep, or force a delay of game because you are lined up incorrectly. Those types of things would be bad except that at least those fast WR's can make those mistakes WITH SPEED. Thank goodness.

according to an article in today's JC Press, supposedly O'Neal just can't get his routes down. He's going the wrong direction, going 7 yards on a 5 yard out and stuff like that. But he's getting better supposedly. Maybe Trooper can work with him more the next two weeks and get his routes down pat.

i will add, trooper can do it. he is no wehre near OC material, but he is a technique guy and anyone that has been around agrees, TT is a fundamentalist.
