Veteran coach, checks the "on-the-field development chops" box

DEEP ties in the talent rich state of NC, which has obviously been incredibly good to us over the years but where we've fallen behind the likes of Clemson, UGA, UF and other out of state schools in terms of raiding. Not to mention that since the Return of the Mack UNC themselves have done well there. Galloway is a NC native, has been Mack Brown's WR Coach for last 3 years and has also coached at ECU, Wake, Elon in the state. Can't imagine a more tied-in guy in that state. Adding Galloway would double-down on the NC ties we just enhanced by adding Billy High to run the recruiting office. High of course has been doing that for Mack and UNC for the last few years with great success.

He's also leveraged those ties to land elite talent, including just this past class with 5-star DL Travis Shaw, for whom they beat out Clemson and every other elite program. He also just landed 4-star WR Andre Greene at his own position - Green is from VA.

For this year's WR class, Galloway would instantly help us with 4-star NC-native Noah Rogers who has been a longtime target, as well as bigtime 4-star Christian Hamilton. He could also possibly get us in the mix for 4-star NC-native Chris Culliver and fast-rising (and recent UNC offeree) Kevin Concepcion.

Additionally, we're hosting bigtime NC natives DL Jamaal Jarrett, OL Sullivan Absher, and (hopefully) Pass Rusher Rico Walker, all from NC, at next weekend's Junior Day.

Thoughts?

In some respects, NC is like TN. There are at least 3 states within a state. No reason UT should not own western NC from Morganton to the border. Not a ton of prospects but there have been some really good ones- Shulers, Little, Pickens, Streater, Austin Johnson,... and a few that got away like Sam Gash. The Piedmont area has improved a lot over the last several years. Charlotte metro has pushed past the Triad for producing the most and best players. The coastal plains up to Raleigh has a lot of athletes but doesn't seem to produce a lot of good players.

I'm not sure where most of his relationships are... but if the far eastern part of the state then he won't be that big of a recruiting advantage.

I respect that this was moved to another forum, but it was mostly about recruiting which is why I started it there...

Really depends on what Heupel feels his need is here - a true coach or a great recruiter.
Galloway fills the need at recruiter for sure...probably better than any other name I've heard mentioned.

Guiton is really interesting too. Seems like he can recruit well in talent rich Texas and that receiving corps at Arky last season was really good too.
