As 1) a UF alum who put up with both ultra-left and ultra-right egomaniacs who tried to dominate every event as though it were about them; and 2) an attorney who defends police in civil cases brought in such circumstances, I can tell you I saw nothing wrong with the actions of the officers.

Its not about the guy "deserving it" or about free speech. Its about a guy who actively physically resisted a number of lawful commands and an appropriate and reasonable law enforcement response.

He should of been arrested for disorderly conduct, but there is no reason for him to be tasered. I found it amusing that not one cop could cuff him.

I don't get what is so hard to understand about this . . . If you don't comply with a police officer and become combative, what the heck do you expect to happen?

Yes, it's crazy that it went that far and it's comical that all those police officers couldn't subdue that guy and get him out of the room without using a taser, but . . . .

Did you see the video? He was a pretty big guy and put up quite a fight. Kept trying to antagonize the police and instigate the studens.

Similar story going down now in Chattanooga, only in this lawsuit the officers tazed a guy already cuffed and in the car....

Is that wrong? Should I not have done that? I tell you, I gotta plead ignorance on this thing. If I'd have known that kind of thing was frowned upon...

Good old John Kerry really took control of the situation.

Dennis Miller suggested Kerry would consult with the UN before coming to the aid of either the police or the student.

Who made the call to remove him from the microphone?

I don't buy the "going over his allotted 1 minute" argument.

I don't have much respect for the free speech claim here. What about all the people he jumped in front of in line before asking the friend he gave a camera to to start taping him? What about their free speech rights? What about the free speech rights of Kerry? The kid wouldn't let anyone else get a word in edge-wise because he wanted to make a spectacle of himself.

If free speech means you can go to a forum and just shout out continuously and block out everyone else and shut the whole thing down by just running over it, then what does that mean for presidential debates or speeches by any person? Can some fool run out on the field durign the middle of a UT game and start blathering endlessly and you in the stands have to sit there in the stands, game halted, while he goes on and on?

Agree

It's not civil disobedience if you aren't being disobedient. He abused the free speech rights of others. That means a tazin' in my book...

He has the right to be tazed by society. :dance2:
