I'd only trade Bruce Pearl for Coach O.

This whole question is ridiculous. I mean ... trading Bruce Pearl is not going to bring us success on the football field (now, trading Fulmer might).

Would I trade Bruce Pearl for any other basketball coach (college or pro)? No way, Jose. Not a single one.

Anybody who skips over basketball season entirely or just views it as a "fill-in" is missing out on a lot of fun, IMO. Why only be entertained in the Fall when you can be entertained year-round? Somebody said football is "religion," and basketball is "entertainment." But, religious experience notwithstanding, you're still going to Neyland for entertainment purposes, right? Basically, the excitement never ends with UT sports. Last Fall, I didn't think much about the basketball program in September and October. Then, football season started to wind down, and we had a monster December home schedule to look forward to with the basketball team. As for the question headlining this thread...stupid question that accomplishes nothing positive for this university.

that's fine well and good......but when, not including the past two years, has TN bball been anything more than "fill in"?

and that's not a slight to BP or anything..in fact it's a compliment.........i didn't care one bit about it prior to his arrival. now i do. thanks coach.

The more people jump on board, the less likely it will ever again be just a fill-in.

That's me. Yes, football is entertainment as well. But IMO, football is much more than an entertainment for me. I make my commitment to the football program, and put a lot of heart in it. It's something I would never miss. I go to every home game and watch every others on TV, just like I go the church every weekend and pray every day. Don't get me wrong, I am very glad to see our basketball program drastically getting better, and drawing much more national attention, but I am just not feeling the same thing in the TBA as in Neyland Stadium.

don't disagree........but if the football team gets its act together and becomes a national powerhouse again, and bball team faded.......it would not generate thousands and thousands of threads about the decline of the program, coaching changes, direction of the program etc, etc, etc......that we seem to have every day in regards to football.

and it's not necessarily a bad thing.........just the truth.

I disagree.. the way Pearl has spoiled us in his first **2** years, I would be devastated if b-ball began to fade once again... I have as much passion or possibly more passion for our basketball team and games as I do our football team.. With basketball its just more personal... less scholarship, no helmets, 5 players on the court etc..

It just makes it easier to really embrace the team.

Football is more than entertainment to me too. But, I feel the same way about basketball. I'm sure I haven't been to nearly as many games in Neyland as you. So far, basketball has been more accessible for me. As I make it to more football games, my opinion of UT football will probably get closer to yours. But, I'll never lose my taste and love for basketball.
