Would you have punted at the end of the game?

I would have fought until the end. To me, it wouldn't have mattered if they scored again. I wouldn't have tried to "pad" the loss. If we don't stop 'em, we don't stop 'em.

I absolutely agree. No matter the team, when you've got 1:45 to play, and you're down by 14, and you've got 4th down, you go for it. Period. If you punt, you will lose, and that's all there is to it.

I got really mad when UT punted at that point. The only thing Fulmer bought with that punt was losing by 14 as opposed to 21.

The punt is just one of the plays that shows how much of the "edge" the Tennessee coaches have lost. They just laid down and hoped to win. In '98 we get the ball back against Arkansas and run it down their throat. In this game we get it on first and goal at the 3. We run the ball for one yard and line up in the shotgun the next 3 plays.

I wouldn't have even thought about punting it.

It just screams "WE GIVE UP. WE GIVE UP." And it's really sad to see that.

No, I wouldn't have quit, when you as a coach quits it tends to give your players the same mentality

Never....ever. I'd rather lose by a 100 points trying than 14 by giving up.

I was really pissed that they punted. Some kinda lucky pass down the field and a TD...and an on side...and we're there...obviously we'd have to be really lucky but anything is possible...unless you punt

My only guess is that they punted to save themselves further embarrassment on the scoreboard.

I think the team basically gave up the very moment we didn't convert that 3rd down anyway...

any other time, I'd say go for it....
This is the one time, I thought it was critical psychologically for our team to not get more pts. hung on us.
The game was hopeless, the team had quit. Take ur 45-31 and go home.
Plus, we can still say we beat Cal by more last year than they beat us this year.
for whatever that's worth

I'm sure the 20,000 + Vol fans who made it to Berkeley were upset to see Fulmer just give up, as I was.

Yeah that what I was thinking. I traveled clear across country to watch my team punt the ball away.
