He's not the top of my list, but I'd support him.

If people protest the hire of Brohm, at that point, we will become untouchable.

5 more years of losing to Bama.
5 more years of losing to Georgia.
5 more years of losing to Florida.
Maybe we beat Vandy once in a while.

Woo Hoo!

I would want to know his motivations. Is it simply for the pay raise or is it because he wants to take on the big boys of the SEC?

Also, I would want him to bring minimal staff from Purdue. This can't be another Butch situation where he does PR stunts for staff interviews and then just brings everyone with him just to give them pay raises.

Not by pick but at least someone I can be comfortable as a choice. I could keep my orange shirts but watch carefully for signals.

I cannot "approve" but do not disapprove ... yet.

He's not nearly as good as Kiffin, but not nearly as bad as Schiano. Incompetent Currie panicked and went mid pack again. Hope I eat some crow, but we will likely be right where we are in 5 more years, after he's been given a year or two too long. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Edit: now we should fire Currie with cause of clear incompetence.

Yes. He's a good coach. However he is going to HAVE to surround himself with great recruiters. In this league you have to recruit at an elite level if you're going to compete.

I said when they fired Jones, my top 3 are:

Matt Campbell
Jeff Brohm
Chad Morris

Somehow they got off chasing rainbows and lollipops and look where they are now with two black eyes and a ass-whoopin by the national media.

Texas, LSU, Florida, USC, even Notre Dame couldn't hire successful Power 5 coaches at their last hire yet our fan base (and administration) thinks the line to come to Knoxville is long and deep with top coaches. Forget it people. You gotta work to find a good coach, develop him and give him the reasons to stay. Look at Jimbo. He's really not thinking of going to A&M as much as he's leaving FSU. I think in the end, he'll regret it but he's doing it out of spite.

Eh. At this point I barely care anymore. I do like his personality, but I would want to know why he wants to come to Tennessee.

The administration has beaten us down to where we have no choice. Go ahead hire him and put us out of our misery.

I think Brohm is a good hire for a number of reasons. First and foremost, we have scared off the bigger names that we wanted. Second, he is a players coach and seems very motivated for player achievement on the field and in the classroom. Lastly, what he was able to accomplish at WKU is impressive, but taking Purdue bowling in their first year is just as equally impressive. I think given our situation it is an excellent hire. I just hope he gets a new staff. Retain G and go out and spend money for the rest.

Those are some low-set sites, my friend. Why would you aim for those before actual winners? Campbell may be a good one, brohm *maybe*...we are about to find out. But morris...uh..no. And there were so many better coaches before Currie settled on an a-hole loser weeks ago.

I can deal with this and he seems to be one of the better options we have a serious shot at at this point. As others have said though I don't want his train of assistants to follow and hear anything close to "best staff in America".

After the Schiano and Gundy fiascos I'm just ready for this to be over.

This is about the best we could do at this point.

I'd be okay with Brohm, Norvell, the Troy coach (can't remember his name), or even Morris at this point. All of those are gambles but we aren't going to be hiring a big name after years of mediocrity and what happened Sunday.

He doesn't need my approval. Whoever the coach ends up being, I'll no doubt voice my initial reaction to the hire, which I fully expect to be underwhelming. After that I'll back off and give the guy my full support unless and until he proves that he's not up to the task based on his performance here. The only exceptions to that are if the guy has a last name of Schiano, Petrino, or Briles

Not happy we are here but with what Currie just did to our team I think this is a good enough place to end up.

Wish we would of taken serious runs at Gruden and Peterson to start, then Kiffin, Tee and Les after the Schiano debacle but Brohm or Morris would both be upgrades over Butch.

At the end of the day team 122 will be better than 121.
