Guys this may sound like I am being a jerk, but I am not. UT just released some more tickets to the game Sat and me and my wife would like to come. We have never been to an opponents stadium.

I would like to take her but I have heard horror stories, not of UT, but of just games in general where the opposing teams fans had drinks poured on them and all sorts of stuff.

So what say ye? :peace2:

You're not welcome at all. We don't like you period. You're officially the enemy.

you're welcome to come if it's worth 70 bones a piece (it's not), to you.

I say you'll be fine, especially given the decline in the hostility toward opposing teams this season.

You'll have a blast and VNers, being an unbelievable generous and hospitable crew, will probably welcome you to their tailgates.

Enjoy and may your tide lose soundly.

I have been to 9 other SEC stadiums and I have never been phyically assaulted (with a drink or otherwise) though the verbal assaults can be pretty heavy at times. Just bring your thick skin and keep walking/ignore them.

And hope you guys have a great time in Neyland (just hope your team doesn't). :)

You guys should go for sure. With us being bad it will be even better for you as far as some jerks being rude. I think Neyland is very opponent friendly.

As long as you don't sit in the student section you'll be fine.

Oh wait, it's empty.

:)

Enjoy the surroundings. Not the outcome!

GO VOLS!

Yea if we get beat I will really be catching it on the way out! I may stay home, this is going to be a good game IMO.

I guess you are taking a chance when you go out anywhere and especially anywhere where there is alcohol being consumed. Remember tho, that our students have to pay for their tickets now and fewer are going to the game because of it. I don't recall ever seeing physical violence in or out of the stadium, but it is pretty certain to say that there's a kook in every crowd. My one little experience to mention is that in 1994, I came up with a buddy from Texas who had just purchased a new Red car. We put Tennessee signs in the back window to hopefully identify us as Tennessee fans, but as you may recall there was a controversial call at the end of the game and you guys squeaked it out. When we got to the car, someone had keyed it from front to back on the driver's side. Don't know if they were hacked about the car being red or that it was a red car with Tennessee signs.....

I have been saying the same thing. :) I think you would enjoy going, and sounds like you will have plenty of fellow bammers in the stands with you. (There are always opposing team fans in our section, X1, and I've never seen anyone get nasty, just good natured ribbing on both sides.)

Game day would be boring without the other teams fans. Neyland is a great place for a game. As with any stadium, you will have your share of idiots, But I think you will enjoy. Have fun and here's to a good game!!!!

Thanks guys/gals I would like to think I would be treated like I treat other fans. Dignity and respect. I even took a picture for an ole miss group shot Sat. :)

On a side note: Should the wife leave the houndstooth hat at home?

Neyland is usually a friendly place. As long as you arent abnoxious you wont have any trouble. I assume you arent or you wouldnt bother asking the question. You will be fine, oh and GO VOLS!!

In all honesty I would like to go to Neyland also for the history of the place.

How early should I get there if I just want to go straight in the stadium early for pics and then the game?

How about traffic coming from Chattanooga to Knoxville?
