Since UTM is probably about to lay claim to this title after Saturday, I figured we might as well debate who it is up until now.

As bad as Western KY was last year, my vote still goes to the 2000 Louisiana-Monroe team. They were beyond awful. 1990 Pacific gets an honorable mention as well.

Others?

When was the last time we played a 1-AA team? I know we played the Citadel in the early 80s.

Martin played Auburn very well 2 years ago. I think the score was 20-20 going into the 4th quarter and Auburn won 37-20. I know the past is not the present but they have played quality SEC teams well. That being said....I still think WKU last year was the worst team.

that AU stat is great and all but AU was god awful. UTM also lost to Tenn St at home that same year. They were not good. Also got blown out (41-14) by Memphis last year

God Awful but still SEC team. People assume since these teams are 1-AA that they cant compete. Martin did once.....thats all i am saying.

That AU team was better than UT that year. And Martin has continued to get better and UT has gotten worse. UTM is not an opponent to simply be overlooked.

that's true and I'm glad Tenn St got the message. Also glad Memphis got it last year or they might have only had 1 win.

UTM is terrible and is definitely top-5 worst to visit that I can remember. I'm sure they will play hard but should not be close to UT

I am not sure if they qualify as the worst, but my freshman year on the hill we played the Temple Owls. My folks came over to Knoxville for the game so i took them in early to watch warmups. When the Temple players came onto the field many of them had cameras to take pictures of the stadium. I was pretty certain at that point that we would get a W that day.

Martin has taken a big step back the past couple of years.

They won the OVC in 06 or 07 and have gone down since then. A friend of mine who is a Martin alum says he expects them to finish near the bottom of the OVC.

this is the first D 1-aa team we have played since the BCS was started and we were one of the last remaining that had not played one.

I believe the last team we played that is now a Div 1-aa was North Texas State.

Pretty much nails it this year.

UTM is head and shoulders better than WKU - don't let the I-AA fool you (I don't play that FBS/FCS crap).

Would be hard to find a team that could knock WKU off that pedestal. (But I don't remember the 2000 Monroe team - not arguing with it)

we absolutely obliterated some terrible teams in the 90's. Could be that we were pretty good then but there were lots of guys getting playing time
