A lot come to my mind but the worst Vol loss I can remember was the Memphis game in 96. It is hard to beleive it was ten years ago.

God that was a heartbreaker of a game. Those Memphis fans were yelling, throwing things, and spitting at us after the game was over. They were the most rude fans I have ever experienced. They showed no class at all. I'm not saying all Memphis fans are like that but the ones I experienced on that night were.

To make things unbearable WREG Channel 3 out of Memphis replayed the games countless times and that is all they wanted to talk about.

My Bama buddy still rips on me about that game, but I turn around and give him flak about BAMA's loss to LA Tech 2000.:)

Saw several of those bumper stickers and whenever I could catch the owner of the car sporting said sticker I would stop that person and ask them what, exactly, is the series record of the two teams. Never got much of a positive response. :eek:lol:

Our thumping by Georgia at home a couple years ago was pretty deflating for me. Some time ago, I think someone on this board commented that they cried after that one. Do you remember our goalline fumble just before half, I think it was, that was run all the way back for a touchdown just when it seemed like we might be turning things around? But I'll have to say, guys, this is kind of a gloomy thread for me on gameday eve at the start of a fresh hope season...boo hoo.

I have to agree 100%. Talking about losses has no place in here after our big win to start the season!!! :nono:

For Memphis fans that was and will be the greatest game of their lives forever. I'll gladly take winning the National Championship in '98 as one, I said one, of my greatest memories of UT football. UT coming from behind to beat Bama in '85, and the utter spanking we dealt to Miami in the Sugarbowl in '86 would follow a close second. Not to forget that this year has just started, and allready my mental highlight reel is in overdrive. It was so nice to watch us actually throw the long ball for a quick touchdown again! Good luck guys, and keep those memories coming.

1958 or 59 we lost to Auburn and DID NOT make a single first down. We also lost to University of Chattanooga that same year. I saw both games. There have been some bad losses but I think that 58 Auburn game was the only time we didn't stretch the chains. That is unreal.... one must think about it... talk about no offense.. it hurt.

wow. that's awesome you remember that.

after Vandy we were still talking trash to comode doors fans.

i'll say LSU in the SEC Championship a few years back was heartbreaking.

1990 vs. Alabama. The screwiest ending to a game I've ever seen in person.

Vandy game was a once in forever type deal...

it was a joke. our fans know it. and deep down inside, their fans know it too.

I was at the old sportsbar on the Strip watching that game. There was a girl there that was celebrating her birthday with some of her friends. I bought her a drink and when Tennessee lost, she cried. They changed the bar over to a dance club after the game and her and I danced and made out all night. It was a bad game, but it didn't hurt near as much as it did for others!

LOL

You know, I don't believe I've ever been to a game where we lost. I don't get to go to many games, so I'm glad about that.

the 95 fla game left the worst scar for me. to be up on them in the swamp and to end up the way they did..... the second half of that game and the first half against them in 96 were the only times the vols have ever looked utterly helpless to me. those two games forged a hatred that is unmatched and unyielding. I actually hate fla more than bammer.

The loss to Vanderbilt last year was unreal... Although the worst loss from '05 had to be the one to Bama. How bad does your offense stink if you hold a team to two field goals and still lose? Ugh...
