Worried about our defense

Our defense is somewhat of a concern at this point, most likely due to injuries on the line and secondary. I hope they get back soon, but I wouldn't bet the farm on it. Someone very knowledgeable said they aren't getting off blocks as well as they have the last couple of years, which may be due to younger, inexperienced players thrust into starting roles.

Why do we assume Georgia doesn't have a good offense? Because they don't have good offensive players? They do. Because of Gunner Stockton? He looked pretty good to me. If he sucked they don't win that game, plain and simple. Because they didn't run the score up more against Marshall and Austin Peay? Georgia has a track record under Kirby Smart of being very vanilla in such games. I watched both of those games before ours and they won 45-7 and 28-6 running a Tecmo Bowl playbook. Kirby only cares about winning, and he wasn't going to give us a preview of what we saw Saturday.

Why are we concerned? Our freshman CB is playing well. Herring had a helluva game. Our best two CBs, who will play on Sundays, are out. D-Line, might be a problem, we need more depth. But other than that, this defense has been solid. GBO!
Once Hobbs and Moi return to form, the defense will get an immediate upgrade. There were some drives in the UGA game where we noticeably missed two of our bigger DTs that start for us. The drive UGA had to open the third quarter totaling 14 plays with 13 being run was very deflating. I don't believe we would have been getting whipped as much if those two guys played. Eason and Bailey are playing too many snaps.

I came away very impressed with their offense. It sucks for UT fans but Kirby is a good coach that can really adapt on the fly. This isn't the first game he has had to win in a shootout. They normally squeeze you to death defensively.

Because we are giving up 30 points a game, mainly.

Yeah I’m not sure why our dline has been getting graded so highly. They are good in pass rush situations but can’t hold up against the run.
