In 2013 we were told Worley deserved to start because Dobbs wasn’t ready and that he didn’t show what the coaches needed to see in practice. It took that staff til October to start Dobbs.

Pretty sure we don’t have a josh Dobbs on the bench, but it begins with acknowledging the starter may win practice but he isn’t a live game QB. For the second week in a row we have lost to inferior teams led by limited/flawed QB’s. Both Opposing QB’s have leadership and playmaking intangibles that compensate for their deficiencies.

We don’t know if Maurer or Shrout can move the team consistently down the field. But we do know that JG cannot. Just like Worley could not. It is time to give someone else a shot.

No harm in trying them both. They have different styles, could have a package for each of them.

IMO you take the first team defense and line them up against the first team offense, then insert a freshman QB, play a mini scrimmage and see what happens. If he can't move the ball on our defense, he's not the answer.

Butch wanted to redshirt Dobbs another year. Dobbs was ready. Just more of Jones' BS. Correct me if I am wrong but wasn't JGs dad a good friend of Butchies?

I don't really care if they make a few mistakes as long as they look like they are getting better and showing some IQ to play the game will be a lot better than what we have now. JG doesn't need to get to play this year and next big waste of time for this team to get better.

Except Dobbs was not very good his Freshman year. Worley was still the better of the 2 at that point.

There's sorta a mythical, re-visionary history on Dobbs. He didn't really become an above-average SEC QB till his Junior year. As a Freshman, he threw an INT for every 20 passes. And even to the extent that he played well, it was partly because opposing teams hadn't schemed for him (e.g. Alabama game).

He was better as a Sophomore, but still struggled a lot. In an ideal world, Dobbs shouldn't have played till he was a Junior and he would've had 3 years of eligibility left.

I’d take Worley with this line over JG with any line.

I think it’s time to start the backups. Chattanooga will be a good live trial. Worse thing that happens is we lose and honestly... what’s it matter at this point,

Another year with Dobbs would have been huge for this program had we been able to redshirt him.

Dobbs was never a great QB. He was an incredible athlete. He was better than Worley the day he walked on campus. His deficiencies were more than made up for with his feet.

That and Butch's offensive scheme was terrible.

There will always be growing pains with any young QB.

That being said, I would rather go through those growing pains than having to endure the shear agony and torture of Pruitt continuing to stick with JG.........

Everyone moves the ball on our defense

What is puzzling about JG is he is a graduate and can focus solely on football and he is still a horrible passer. He had Callaway in the back corner of the endzone, but instead he threw a rocket at Jennings in double coverage

Worley would have remained the starter had he not been injured -- same as JG, only an injury will get him replaced

I can't say that. If we would've had Dobbs one more year it would've been huge.
