World's most endangered sea turtle

Just got back from Gulf Shores. My son was fishing from the beach about 7 PM Tuesday when he caught something and battled it for about 5 minutes. Turned out to be a sea turtle. Had the hook firmly in his jaw. Wasn't sure what to do. Beach patrol happened by a few minutes later. They took a picture and sent it to a sea turtle rescue organization. They identified it as a Kemp's Ridley sea turtle, the most endangered sea turtle in the world. They sent someone to the beach to get the turtle to take it to a vet to remove the hook. They are serious about their sea turtles in Gulf Shores.

Turtle's shell was bigger around than a dinner plate. Turtle weighed around 15 pounds. You can see the leader hanging from his mouth.

I hooked a huge turtle on the pier one day. I was freaked out cause there was signs every where that week about not bothering them. I didn't know what to do, but he finally broke my line. I need to dig on Facebook for a picture. One heck of a fight, that thing had power.
