World Cup 2026

Had to work, missed the first game, saw highlights of Messi goal and heard the Egypt manager claiming the fix was in for Argentina. Anybody that watched it, agree or did they just choke ?

Shocking

Shocking in what way? We have never been the best country for baseball. Plenty of Far East and Caribbean teams just as good as us each year. Always been that way.

Youth sports are big business in Europe, as well. I reckon they just have higher IQ's than Americans on average?!

They reward youth players too much. Every child I know gets 3 rings and a championship belt for placing 3rd place in the Bronze, geriatric division of the BFE 4 team tournament each weekend!

There are issues here, but I'm not sure you really identified any of those issues.
We invented the sport. Also dominated the landscape of baseball until the 2000's. There were some great Puerto Rican and Dominican players (also Cuban) prior to the 2000's, but nothing like the past 20 years. Japanese have had a great league for a while, but let's not kid ourselves.

Meh. Britain created the game and Canada was the first on this side of the pond to play the game. Sure we "invented" modern baseball if you want to describe it that way.

Venezuela is more dominant than Cuba, but most of those countries are better at baseball than Americans. They just lack the resources we have.

US wins LLWS about half the time and we host the competition which is a big advantage in itself. Far East wins about 35% of time and Caribbean teams win the other %. My point was USA has never been better at baseball and Americans don't have as good of hand eye coordination as some other areas of the world either. If all resources were equal for other countries, then America would struggle to make the semis each and every year in any international competition I suspect. We aren't nearly as dominant as you imply.

Anyone who has banged their shins on the coffee table in the dark knows how painful injuries there can be. If you’ve played organized soccer, you know why shin guards are worn. So, writhing floppers can be exaggerating real pain in the hope of a free kick or a card for the other guy.

Many players nowadays wear tiny shin guards that offer little protection.

This is why FIGC sucks. An Italian team should have made the WC and shown the other teams how flopping is done.

why are the Th/Fr games in the afternoon? for the EU viewers?

Sat games are
1700ET (2200 England/ZULU, 0000 Sunday Norway)
2100ET (2200 Argentina, 0300 Sunday Switz)

They 100% choked. Honestly pathetic comments by Egypt after the game. Happy they ended up losing in hindsight. They conceded 3 goals in 15 minutes. Between all of the controvertial Argentina moments this tournament, this one wasn’t really up there.
