Words now considered offensive

This hunting for things to label racist and provoke downright silly reasons to change things is only going to incite haters to hate more. And probably some social allies to divest. It's one thing when a term is obviously used to denigrate and when it is applied in valid, non-insulting use. Be warned, this hypersensitivity, and hunting for ridiculous complaints is going to, if not already, backfire.

And why stop here?

We know American slaves picked cotton. I'm sure the sight of cotton is triggering.
Ban Cotton!!!!

We also know the slaves worked lands that produced food, mainly vegetables.

Ban any food that was around during slavery!!!

How far y'all wanna go with this?

You continue to beat the racism drum and people get wore down. It's to the point that any words can be attacked as racist. So it's easier to shut them up and stifle free speech.

Dayum, a nitwit who can't read. I pity your teachers who tried to teach you. You and your ilk are why we have a teacher shortage now, they gave up on the unteachable such as yourself.

They want to use a latin word in place of field. White Latin speakers also gave us the name Africa. The Roman Empire had slaves and engaged in the slave trade. Oh boy!

This is total silliness. Again, I don't know what the left thinks they're accomplishing with this. The difference between the loony left and the loony right is the loony left is harmless and wants to play silly semantic games. The loony right has guns and wants to overthrow democracy.

Let’s just get it all over with, all words are now racist and language is obviously a form of White Supremacy (the written word doubly so). So all communication of abstract thought is now prohibited

When everything is racist, then the effect is to make nothing racist. It is the Boy Who Cried Wolf writ large to the point of absurdity
Agreed. Stuff like this doesn't help the cause. There are legitimate phrases and expressions that can be categorized as racist or as having a racist origin (such as "selling someone down the river"). "Field" is not one of those.

Well documented that controlling language is historically used for mal intent. This is not harmless. Years ago and several times since the hospital industry tried to script what nurses said to their pts using the word “always” in several sentences. They literally wrote out what we were to say.
It related directly to scores received from pts post hospitalization surveys. A 9 or 10 score as elicited by the response “ always” would get you higher reimbursement if you were above the national average and could be claimed by the hospital as a bragging point for advertising. This wasn’t too assure better care for pts but for money and bragging rights.
What is manipulation of speech for an agenda called? It doesn’t matter who’s doing it, just that it’s happening at all.
