Info from Vols at Witten Camp Reply
Bray, Teague, Rivera, Austin Johnson, Lathers, Poole, Crowder, and Downs all attended the Witten Camp last Saturday in Elizabethton. They were all fantastic to be around and down to earth. I picked their brains a little, but tried to be cool and not annoying.

The eye test:

Bray- Doesnt seem to have put on much if any weight. Very thin shoulders
Teague- Decent build, definitely looks like a corner
Rivera-Slightly bigger hands than Witten. He is a big body, but not jacked or anything. Slightly shorter than Witten (Witten is 6'5 or so)
Johnson-Biggest Vol there. Very big through his shoulders and back and taller than I expected.
Lathers-Still in the boot (has been in for 3 weeks and has 3 more to go), but he looks to be in good shape and good, muscular build
Poole- Thick and muscular but not too big to move. He passes the eye test with flying colors. Exactly how you want a RB to look.
Crowder-Said he was at 275 and he looks good. He said they want him to eventually be 295. I dont know where he will put 20 more pounds though...
Downs- Definitely needs to get much much bigger to be SEC ready

I honestly wont remember everything I talked about with these guys because I was with them all day, but heres the highlights...

DaRick nearly got into a physical altercation with McKeefery. The whole team was working out and Rogers decides "This is bullish, I aint doin this!"

A.J. Johnson, Christian Harris, and Curt Maggit: All reports are good. Although Lathers said that Johnson needs to lose some weight to move a little better. Said Maggit is a legit talent and will play LB and DE a lot like Jac Smith. (DE in Nickel situations)

Speaking of the Nickel package. They seem to think that they will play a ton of nickel until Lathers returns.

One player when asked about Bray off the field just shook his head and said "He is not what you want out of your QB off the field... Too much partying"

Everyone raved about Devrin Young. Poole said he took a punt and was out, looked like a Blur. Crowder said he ran a 4.3 on a laser timer.

Poole said that Marlin Lane is legit. He is a good all around back. 5'11 205, not break away speed but fast enough.

Mo Couch: Reports seemed good but said the running is getting after him right now.

Jackson will be back according to the players, no question about it.

Wilcox wants to get into the 3-4 as much as personel will allow him to.

Teague said when talking to Coty Sensabaugh: "Man I was so cool with Coach Sweeney. I just about came to play for him man" I thought that was interesting because I dont remember much about them being in the picture in his recruitment.

Bray is the most laid back Ive ever been around. He is smiling a lot and doesnt get excited real easy. Will Bartholomew was talking to kids about working out and eating well and said "Its not about lifting all the time, its about what you put in your mouth." Bray said loudly, as we were standing very close to the kids "What!? Put in your mouth? Whats he talkin about?" and I said "he is talking about eating right" And he said "Ohhh i was confused." The other UT guys were like "T Bray why you talkin so loud bro shut up" and he said "Dude aint no body listening to me."

and another reason to hate on Adidas:

Rivera was talking to Witten about gloves. He and Bray said that the adidas gloves suck. Anytime you make a fist all the sweat comes out of the glove and makes the surface wet. Witten said leaving UT and going to the NFL (From Adidas to Nike) "cut my drops in half"

Thanks for the info. I'm dissapointed to hear the comments about Bray, and the comments made by Bray.

Thought he had gained a little bit of poundage.

I think I hear the morals police coming to get Bray. Personally, I don't care if the kid parties and what not, as long as he produces on the field. I'm sure he will have some moments this next year that he will learn from and be humbled by.

The comments regarding Bray are disturbing.

He will never be elite if he's a party animal. That is for sure.

Matt Stafford, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Matt Leinart, Vince Young...you can be elite and have a good time. Tom Brady is still partying like a rockstar and playing in the NFL, same for Romo.

Careful....lest you be labeled a bible-thumping morality Nazi.

and another reason to hate on Adidas:

Wow!

I really hate Nike, but I faced facts a while ago. Nike puts out much better equipment.

Great write up Rexvol. Best thread I have seen all off-season.

Monday nights at Ivys. . .you couldn't swing a cat without hitting a starting football player. People would complain if Bray was spending too much time at the library or church because he wasn't watching enough film. If he spent all his time watching film they'd complain that he wasn't getting enough reps on the field. Now, if he beats Florida this year he'll enjoy a few weeks of less criticism . . .

Poppycock!!!! Garcia is the best QB the SEC has seen since Peyton Manning, and he is a party animal.

Hahaha

I retract my statement.

I guess as long as he's putting the work in on the game he'll be alright.

But out of curiosity, who was the last Heisman winner that was considered a party animal?
