Will this open the door to 2k sports possibly making a college football game, or even an NFL game like NFL 2k5?

Doubtful. Whoever wanted to make it would have to negotiate licensing with each individual school and considering that there are over 120 division 1 FBS schools, I don't think any developer regardless of how big or successful they are wants to get into that. Plus there's never a guarantee that all 120 Universities would even be willing to participate.

I think there will be another college football franchise at some point, but not until after the legal dust settles. I could see the college players unionizing, especially if the rules on paying players do not drastically change in the near future. With a union, the game publishers would then be able to reach licensing agreements (as they currently do with NCAA and CLC) without the current risk of player lawsuit (the player would have to leave the union to do so - and would likely have to sue the union as well). In addition to lowering the risk of legal action, that should enable them to use a more accurate player likeness (as we see in pro sports games).

You know it's sad because college players do get a allowance and they get free food now.

There isnt a chance in hell that 2K gets back into football.......college or NFL anytime in the near future (within 5 years). Also remember that what was known as "2K" back when NFL2K was made was actually Visual Concepts who was bought out by take2.

College 15 was gonna be a badass game from what I have read. They used a program similar to minecraft in detail every stadium and players.

They could theoretically make the same games without any real likenesses or brands, just fictional. Then they could allow user created teams, conferences, stadiums to get closer to actual teams. Might be the closest possible substitute.

If the gameplay was good enough, people might still buy.

I could see and college game with extensive open ended customization to allow users to create their own teams and conferences.

if that was the case I don't think I would enjoy it. for me half the fun is the somewhat realism of the teams, brands, and conferences, but that is my personal opinion.

Forget realistic football, this genre needs some fiction and creativity.

If you guys want an in-depth college FB simulation check out Grey Dog's Bowl Bound College Football. It is really fun after getting the hang of it.

Please! Why that game hasn't gotten a redux is beyond me. What they could do with today's technology....

I played the game just to knock the other team's WR's out and then nail the confused QB who had no one to pass to lol

Anyone heard any recent news/updates on potential of any college Ftball video game to be released this year? Or simply news of future years. It'd been a while since I've heard anything myself.
