With Harsin likely staying as a dead man walking...

Lot of ducks with no rows.

Internal investigation revealed there isn't enough or no evidence to support a for cause dismissal per a recent ESPN article. Regardless, the article didn't paint a pretty picture of Harsin and I suspect it's only a matter of time before he's gone.

Trust me this is worse. Everyone knows Harsin is screwed. Roster will be worse for the next guy.

Inclined to agree. Given that he's going through coordinators and position coaches like a blowtorch through butter, there's no real stability and he'll get crushed on the recuiting trail and once their classes are not up to par, then the boosters will step up and write the checks to bounce his ass. Also, he come across as a real ass and there are only a handful of coaches in college and the NFL that can pull off the Timmy-Tough nuts act successfully.

Yeah but if they fired him now they probably don't get anybody worth a damn as a head coach or they just go for an interim guy.

They are retaining at least some contunuity keeping him. Keeping the roster way more intact than they otherwise would be.

I have wondered if the noise about them kicking around Kevin Steele's name is their emergency plan if this situation gets totally off the rails and he HAS to go one way or the other. Similar to what CPF sold to our upper admin as the Pruitt thing was unfolding. Quality respected coordinator with local knowledge that could take on an interim year with a potential shot pending trend analysis on several fronts. Their pool of potential replacements might be smaller than ours and doubt CJH would have been in play for anybody other than White. Don't know what our OTHER backup plan would have looked like either.

Keeping a lame duck coach does way more harm than a coaching change. Butch wasn't worth a damn as a hire and he still recruited his ass off based on excitement and playing time. Auburn's brand will still sell even if the hire isn't sexy. A lame duck coach steers away recruits, coaches, and fans.
