With Davis and Gruden out of the way....

I hate that guy. Ugggghhhh.

AMEN, he is not even that good of a coach at OKLA ST. he was 28-21 in the Big-12, First 3 years at LSU 34-6 which is loaded with Nicks players. With the players he recruited 6-3. He cant even get a QB in there. LSU sucks dog balls............................

I would love to have Kiffin, but I wonder if he would leave in a couple of years if a big NFL job comes open? Like when Tony Dungy retires.

I don't think that is reason NOT to go for him, but I would like a 10 year coach.

interesting thread, Justin, you seem to have some pretty strong opinions.........and i like the way they lean.

in the end, you are correct, if our list of 3 is Kelly, Kiffin and Davis, it's definitely not a bad thing that this is the list we are arguing over.......there may be one of those that anyone might like more htan the other, but at the end of the day, it's going to be hard to find THAT many people that are just going to be flat out upset at hiring any of the three.

I agree that the dance with Davis isn't done yet. He's going to be made to tell Hamilton there's no way he's coming to Knoxivlle. Personally, i'll be a little surprised if he does leave.

as for Clemson, i think Clemson is only waiting on one thing......Tubberville. he's the guy if he wants it. past that it could be Muschamp or Kiffin.

the timing of all this is what matters. Clemson, it appears, is willing to wait on Tubberville. that works out well for us.

my gut says that Brian Kelly or Lane Kiffin will be the next coach at UT.

Not that Les Miles is even a remote possibility, but you really don't know what you are talking about. At OK St he got leftovers from Oklahoma and Texas. LSU had the number 1 rated quarterback coming out of HS in Ryan Perilloux (sp?) but he got kicked off the team because he's an idiot. They have the number 1 dual threat QB coming in next year and the number 3 class overall. But you're right, he can't recruit at all

I like Kelly, but he wasn't an option.

Of Kelly and Kiffin, I'll take Kiffin for the recruiting.

Between Kelly and Leach, it's Kelly and not even close.

Of Kelly, Kiffen, and Leach, i'll take Kelly. Kelly is the best coach of the three. Kiffen would probably be the best hire recruiting wise because he is the sexy name right now. I wouldn't be disappointed with leach. Especially if he wins a NC this year. But let's face it what we need is a good coach. Someone who can take the talent we have and develop it. That man is Kelly. As far as recruiting, once he starts winning(and he will) the recruits will notice and they will come. As far as Kiffen, i think once he aquired some success he will use it to land another job.

as was stated earlier in this thread, if that's the case, then that means he had to win someting while here.....that's a good thing.

i think at this point, the only thing that would disappoint me is if it's not one of the three......Davis, Kelly, or Kiffin......thought Patterson from TCU wouldn't ruffle my feathers either.

Gruden's not out of the way till the bucs season is over and he says he will not be the UT coach. If not gruden, my choices go 1. Kiffin 2. Muschamp 3. Mike Peterson

I would have to agree. Any of them really wouldn't be bad.

I kinda agree about Gruden not coming but it's not a for sure thing because every coach has to say they are not interested right now. Gruden has a playoff team... can't expect him to come out and say sure I'm considering it... He can't.... And Butch Davis is in the same position... his team is in the running for the ACC Championship... he HAS to say he's not interested.

UNC losing to Maryland today can only help if we are going to push for Davis...maybe his team will lose themselves out of ACC contention...

I haven't heard one mention of Jeff Fisher becoming the next HFC at Tennessee. The guy has been coaching in the pro's for...what...15-16 years (assistant and HC)? Don't you think that the success of this year's Titans would propel him to a GREAT recruiting class his first try? Think he could assemble a nice staff before next fall? Your thoughts, anyone...

Personally, I would die a happy man if Jeff Fisher were to become the new head coach.

However, I think we probably have a better chance of bringing back Neyland from the dead than we would hiring Fisher.

I wonder if it is assumedthat Fisher wouldn't take the job because of his success as an NFL coach. I look at the guy and see college FB coach written all over him. He's young, animated, and a players' coach. His recruiting ability is built in due to his success in Nashville. I would hope that he would have at least been contacted.

Money! UT could never afford Fisher. Especially if he goes to the SB this year.
