Just a word about winners --- Katie Gearld, former Purdue star and WNBA player, coaches Marian U in the NAIA. In this her 7th season as head coach, her team just won its 6th straight regular season championship and 4th tourney title. Marian has also won 2 national championships under Gearlds and is a legit contender again this year. Here is what I like about Gearlds' approach. She tells her team before games to go out and be great, not just good, but great. She says, "make the other team wish they had never gotten on the bus to come here!" And that is how they play. It is the "take-no-prisoners" approach. It is the "killer-instinct." I remember when the LVs played like that, but it has been quite a while since we have seen it. Time for our "ladies" to get out there and stomp 'em and stomp 'em good! :D

Go "Lady" Vols !!!

Of course, realistically that would be a major transformation for this team. I think their approach is, “Kill ‘em with casualness!”

I remember Katie. She played college ball with Erin Lawless, who lost to Candace Parker’s hs team in the Illinois state finals in 2003.

I remember Katie Geralds being a tough, well-balanced player -- one of those types that Pat liked. I'm glad to hear she's doing well as a coach.
