Willie Martinez is the best DB coach we’ve ever had

Starting CB and AA McCoy didnt play
Starting CB Gibson missed 2.5 quarters
McMurray replaced Boo at Nickel played great
New starter Farooq played well at Safety
Freshmen played HEAVY minutes at CB

The DBs did well considering how new the players are to playing for UT. IMO..

Not Martinez but definitely related:
We played backups heavily at LB
Including freshmen AND walkons 2 at a time in the 2nd half.
I was very impressed by how many backups and freshmen played on defense in this game at ALL 3 levels. In addition to DBs and LBs, we had 4 different DTackles go down and starter Hobbs didnt play ever.
Some will argue that Martinez hasn’t rubbed off on the newbs yet.

Couldn't stop the pass all game. Syracuse drove down the field the entire game. Lot of that is stupid soft zone we played all game.
Hello?! You play to win the game! We took a 31-7 lead into the half and forced them to burn clock in order to move the ball. Our coaches are WINNERS.

You’re either trolling or…well I hope you’re trolling. Syracuse can throw the ball, churn yards, and put up points. Go look up thier stats from last year. That wasn’t a fluke. They’ll do it again this year. They can coach offense. Injuries also played a part in us not holding them to zero points and zero yards passing. Damn I still fell for the bait.

Yes, I don't know what these crackheads are talking about. Many agreed CWM is a top 5 secondary coach. I haven't seen anything close to it the whole time he has been here. If anything, the SECONDARY SEEMS TO BE UT's WEAK LINK EVERY YEAR!!!

Agenda driven logic challenged folks can be creative. Those that feature their own analysis and have no interest in CJH’s doom themselves.

Even soliciting return trolling to get them to dig deeper holes. Worked, but not a great use of time.

In my younger days, I would lose sleep over things such as coaches, losses etc...
Now, I just lay my head down to sleep at the end of the day and wake up the next morning.

Willie is fine. He now actually has a bunch of guys that run 40 times faster than 4.7. That makes a huge difference, make no mistake. From what I heard, even a couple of years ago, the coaches knew the players they had knew the system very well, they knew what to do, but they just couldn't physically do it. Now, we have the players with the speed and athleticism to execute. It's really that simple.

This topic is discussed ad nauseam. He’s no better than any of the previous coaches. As the talent gets better, he gets better. Imagine that
A concept lost on LOM’s in development discussions. HC and DC KNOW effectiveness in target selection, and relationship execution regardless of end results on case by case and year by year basis. AND especially on field results with THEIR collectively assembled available rooms. THEY have been exceptionally effective with our portal additions these last 2 years. Not the preferred plan, BUT…..

Remember just last season people were calling for Willie's head on a stick. He was a train wreck as a DC, but he has really done a good job with the DBs. He has a track record as a great recruiter. I think he is a very solid asset for the Vols. Speaking of recruiting... Hey Danny White, how about a raise for Kelsey Pope!!! He is currently ranked the #2 recruiter in the nation. He makes $250k. We gotta take care of the folks that keep the pantry stocked or they'll get snapped up by someone else. Also, we have a host of Vols staff in the recruiting rankings. Willie is currently 75, but there are many Vols ahead of him.
