Kemp has committed to Memphis. Looks like we'll have to look elsewhere for our point guard of the future.

Yep, I just read that too. If Pearl can pull off a winning season and actually get our team somewhere this year, we will get some good recruits.

Well, if he played point for UT Randy would screw him up...right Sarge :birgits_giggle:

They actually already have a PG, Marques Johnson. The scouts say that PG will be his best position in college. Although, I would have loved to have gotten Kemp. I think being as close to his mom as possible won out in the recruiting.

It was expected of Kemp. The health of his mother played a very important role.

Actually, from what was reported today, Kemp's mother preferred he go to UT. I think the lure of playing with Niles, Young, and the other blue chippers Cal is bringing in was too strong for Pearl to overcome.

I do know I have read that his mother like Pearl better than Pitino. Niles is going to have a hard time qualifiying academically and I don't think Young is going to go to Memphis. So, I hope those were not the things luring him. Plus, he would have been playing with Chism at UTK.

Maybe he's tired of playing with Chism. I will be stunned if Niles fails to qualify and Young goes anywhere but Memphis. Calipari still has name recognition over Pearl. It'll take a few recruiting cycles for Bruce to level the playing field. Cal's NBA ties carry a lot of weight with recruits.

Yes she did but with her health HE wanted to stay near her.

The report I read had Kemp saying in quotes that being closer to his mother had "a lot" to do with his decision. I think that was the deciding factor.

I think many posters are underestimating what a good recruiter Memphis has at the helm. Cal wins as many high profile recruiting battles as anyone. Remember, he had Amare Stoudamaire signed a few years back.

No one is underestimate Trashman Loser but the facts in this case is as stated HE wanted to be close to his mother period, otherwise he would have been in Kentucky Blue. As far as Calipari he is the lowest form of life. Him and Bertman make a good pair!

Given what most of his peers think of him, it would be easy to paint Pearl in a very negative light. I have known Cal for several years, name me another coach who puts more of his money and time back into the communities he coaches in.

Even Kentucky fans admit they were out of the running at the end. They're hoping to get their PG from the west coast.

I thought Pearl signed this 4 or 5 star PG out of Penn or somewhere up north, he will be a freshman in 2 seasons, he's a senior right now

Not sure if you're referencing Johnson or Passley. Johnson will be here next year. There is a difference of opinion as to whether he can defend PGs on the Division I level. Passley won't be here for a couple of years.

As a matter of fact, D. Jasper just committed with UK.

Wonder why he didn't commit earlier?

I know do you?

Gee, anyone who doesn't adhere to your rigid, slanderous attacks on anyone who isn't associated with UT must be a fan of someone else. I've lived in East Tennessee all my life, have an undergrad and a law degree from UT, and probably donate more money to the VASF and UT in a year than you will in your entire life. The last thing I have to do is validate my allegience to UT to a semi-articulate mudslinger.

Wow you donate money to UT Big Whoop, Calipari is slime and that is fact. and if I'm just a semi-articulate mudslinger why even bother answering my post? You may think you know somethings but I got news for you I DO know things. Your law degree means absolutely squat. Your buddies with Calipari so what that doesn't make him great. He tried to do UT dirty and if you cannot see that than I feel sorry for you. You want to continue making this personal go right ahead but as for me I have seen what you really are and this will be my last post that you have anything to do with since you obviously don't have a clue about what your talking about.
