Willie was great!....His future wife used to come down to the deli I worked at when I was like 15 or 16 years old and listen to the games with us on the radio when they were on the road....Just a super person to meet and talk to...Willie has always been one of my big favorites.

Willie Gault was always fun to watch.I can remember a few time when the camera men missed him or just couldn't keep up with him, and he was gone.:gone:

I see he has a son in High School...

I wish the article had mentioned that he is a standout track/football star.

You talking about Willie or his son? The whole article was about him playing football and running track.

I love Willie Gault. We are the same age and were in college at the same time. My favorite John Ward quote, "Willie Gault is running all the way to the state capitol".

Wonder if he's considering Tennessee?

I should have clarified..

I meant I WISH the article had stated that his son was also a track/football player.

I don't know if he even plays sports, just that I wish he is half the athlete his dad is.

I had been searching the threads for info on this and come back to see this.......

It's all good.:eek:k:

Willie had trouble holding on to the ball his sophmore year; once he got the hang of it, he was off and running...literally. One of my all time favorites.

I remember one day when I was out running laps on the track behind Stokley Center and Willie was on the track running practice sprints. I do not believe I have ever seen someone run so fast. The man was like a gazelle he look like he moved with so little effort. Honestly I was totally amazed at how he seemed to just glide on the surface of the track. He was a tremendous human specimen.

cockrell to gualt one of the best combos ever, im verry curouis as to where his boy is a football player or not, id love to see him come in and wear that number 26 here and show the gators what real speed is. i mean damn the man ran a 4.27 40 at 45+ years old, what kind of 40 was he running when he was here ?

I was thinking the same thing. Unbelievable. He had to be running sub 4.2 when he was at UT. That guy is amazing!

I remember a game seem like Acron or Alcorn st dont remember exactly but a smaller school. Willie beat his man and caught a pass somewhere around mid field and he let them chase him for about 20 to 30 yds to the other 20 to 30 yd line then he kicked the burners in and smoked em. Dont rember his stats but seems like he returned about 6 punts for TD's in 1 year. I may be wrong on that will have to do some searching.
