Will Yr 2 be tougher than Yr 1

If year 2 is worse than year 1 then Fulmer likely made the wrong hire. Tennessee needs a football coach. One that teaches fundamentals of the game of football. Blocking, tackling, passing and catching and special teams. I fully EXPECT Tennessee to vastly improve in all phases. Beginning in year 1 of the Pruitt era and further improving into year 2.

I am sick and tired of the excuses of youth and injury and players not being good practicers (whatever the hell that means).

No more excuses. Just get to the nuts and bolts of the game. Do the basic things really well. Excel at them and progress from there.....

Talk is cheap. No more coach speak. No more utterly stupid cliches. No more mindless nonsensical drivel.

Shut up and coach. Shut up and play. That's all.

It should not take even a halfway decent headcoach and staff to show signs of progress and success at a place like UT. Even under the current circumstances.

This is why a vast number of UT fans wanted someone like Mike Leach. Aside from his quirkiness and comedian like personality he is a No Nonsense no excuse coach. He doesn't accept youthfulness of his team and injuries of his team as a valid excuse for not getting better and winning. Listen to his locker room speeches. The attitude he has is what a place like UT needs. An attitude that any program needs. I hope coach Pruitt will bring that element, attitude, and winning mentality to UT.

Year 2 should be better than year 1. Period.

Things will get easier for CJP when he has a top QB. If JG is ready next year we'll be ok.

Exactly. Year 2 can be exciting and very successful if JG or even Shrout can be above average. I feel the QB is the key every year. If JG is accident prone, regretfully I would hope it would be at the beginning of the year so Shrout can get legs under him before SEC play begins.:hi::hi:

If Year Two is worse than Year One, the jackals will be out in force calling for Pruitt's head.

If Warrior and Bituli have the kind of seasons they are capable of having, we will be losing A LOT of defensive experience going into year 2. That's the main reason I expect Year 2 to be tougher. If there is a drop off in year 3, then Pruitt is not the guy and we can expect several more years of the same.

The key is to get several guys that can help immediately. That is not impossible look at Smith as a freshman. I think we already have one guy committed that can play early. We may be young in year two but the talent could be just as good depending on the recruiting class. You usually have to replace 5 guys on each unit and have 5 or 6 capable backups we'll see if we have that in year two.

Let's see how Kirby does with Kirby's kids before predicting a dynasty for the dawgs. What he did this year and last he did with Richt's kids. He loses 31 to graduation this spring. Let's see how they fare next year.

And got so much more from Richt's kids than Richt ever did.

Looking at the SRs on this roster, then looking at the incoming and last years Freshman class, Is year be the tougher task for CPJ.. I mean even if Vols land #1 class in country next year, that really wont help their true freshman year will it? T

If year 2 is worse, that tells us that the coach isn't the one.

We would be losing a ton of talent, but fortunately Butch already ripped that band aid off for us.

The 2014 redshirted class we still have billon bates and todd kelly jr.

Not sure what contributions they will provide, hopefully more than I suspect,

The 2015 class (2018 senior class) was supposed to be the foundation of our future, but most are already in the past and have left the building.

K. Mckenzie 5* gone
A. Kamara 4* gone but 2017 was last possible jc.
Preston Williams 5* gone
Jack Jones 4* gone
S. Jones 4* gone
J. Martin 4* gone, but jc
A. Butcher 4* gone
Q. Dormady 4* gone
V. Boulware 3*gone
J. Kelly 3* gone
Kyle oliver 3* gone
Stephen Griffin 3*
D. Miller 3* gone
Vincent Perry 3* gone
Jocquez Bruce 3* gone
Joe Young 2* gone
T. Townsend 3* gone

Chance Hall 3* maybe gone???

And butch's boys tried their best to get rid of juaun jennings 4* Sr.

So returning for at least another season is...

K. Phillips 5* sr.
S. Tuttle 4* sr
M. Abernathy 4* sr
Q. Picou 3* sr
J. Jennings 4* sr
D. Richmomd 4* redshirt jr
DKjr 4* redshirt jr
Quarte Sapp 4* redshirtjr
D. Taylor 4* redshirt jr
Austin Smith 3* redshirt jr

Also will be last year for...
Kongbo 4* sr
Alexis johnson 3* sr

So were aren't really losing that much, mostly defensive line will be hit hard, a year or two ago 2018 seemed like a terrible attrition year in which we would lose the core of the team to graduation, but under performance, injuries, transfers and early exits to the NFL have softened that blow and allowed us to move on to the future.

Oh look another "31 players leaving UGA" statement. For the last time, half of that total are walk ons. Oh and I guess you fail to realize UGA returns more starters than UT does...Sorry.

I don't understand why it's so hard to understand 14 of them are walkons who only saw the field in blowouts. Out of the 17 on scholarship only 12 contributed and 3 of those were subs, so UGA is losing 9 starters, 6 on D and 3 on O.We started as many frosh on O as we did sr., RG,RT and QB.

Not to pop your balloon but they didn’t have 31 seniors. They had 17 scholarship players. 11 of which played. They lose 12 starters (counting RSmith and the punter) compared to UT’s 13 so UT actually loses more. The guy they can’t replace is Roquan Smith. Chubb/Michel are being replaced with Swift (#1 RB) White (#1 RB) Holyfield (#2 RB-Rivals) Cook (#3 RB) and Herrien who avg over 5 ypc in his career as well.

Every other position they are upgrading in talent. The weakest link perceived talent wise is WR and they already have the #1 and #2 WR committed in 2019 and already have the #1 class in 2019 as well. Recruiting won’t stop, the only question was could Smart coach. That has been answered.

Same for Pruitt, UT will land a top 5 recruiting class this year, it will happen. He will use the same formula as Smart, win with great players. Great players will come, but it will take them a year or two in the S&C to become great in the SEC.

Back to being worse in year two. Butch was handed a SR OLine his first year, and had to replace the entire line in year two otherwise he wins a Lot more in year two. Year Two is the ‘magic’ year for most coaches. 2019 and UT will be competing.

Wow....7 five stars?
Since 2000 UT has had 16 total 5 star players sign. Total.

Well, it’s possible. UGA just signed 10 players that was rated 5 stars by at least one service. 8 of the top 31 players in the nation and already 3 of top 10 in 2019.

Thing is, only 30 or so 5-stars and have to duke it out with Bama, Ga, OSU, and USC for those 5 stars. You know Bama will want to make a statement this year after failing on NSD.
