I think if you have to pick the weakest links on the sports animal, these two have to be on top of the list. Joel takes his cue from Will West and Will is horrible and slams UT every chance he gets. These two guys have a "Chicken Little The Sky Is Falling Attitude" on everything UT related. Joel is normally a producer and a tennis player and offers his judgement on UT football as he is an expert, ( My opinion he should stick to answering the phones) terrible analyst and not clue as what he's talking about, I don't need a tennis player telling me about where he thinks our football team is in a competitive standpoint. ( My opinion, he's a clown). Both of these clowns think UT will get pounded by WVU in the opening game and make their case in this manner. WG is the best QB in the country, WG needed a busted play in 2015 to beat us in 2015 and that was a team Coached by BJ.....27-28, Vols should have won hands down but didn't. John Janek was the DC then and had their number but a particular coach played it conservative to maintain a lead and lost the game which BTW we should have never lost. UT ate WG up all game.... let me repeat ALL GAME! But now with a proven DC as HC we don't stand a chance and Joel and Will are predicting we lose by 11-17 points.. West is the worst Analyst (The word Anal Comes to Mind) who see's us losing by 20 or more.

WVU has a horrible defense and they couldn't stop a cold, CJP will dial in so many blitzes WG won't have time to think and as they say, CJP won't be able to contain this High Powered Offense(BS), The are both wrong...... CJP started breaking this team down when he took the job. He know's this is his first game, and from a man that wants to win them all it's dialed in and he's full speed ahead. Now call me crazy but I see UT spanking WVU and CJP proving a point that he's the real deal and I'd be surprised if WVU scores over 17 points. I know coaches and we have a coach that not only expects but demands excellence from his team and players. Will West and Joel (tennis player) can slam us all they want but I see then eating huge crow. Joel with his whiny voice erks me and i wish the sports animal would can him but his whiney butt has a job and that is too sad to comprehend.

Yeah, I turned it on at the end of the Erik Ainge Show and Will was making every possible excuse why WVU was going to beat us. Erik was giving every reason why he thinks we'll win. Will was like "no".

I turned it off.

I have to agree with you....
I believe we will see a totally different VOL TEAM out there when we start the season..
CJP prides himself in the defense and stopping teams...He and the TEAM will be ready for WV...
There is a different vibe with this team that I have not seen in many years...THEY want to play and play hard for CJP & the other coaches..
I hope all the negavols and naysayers like crow...cause we serving a bunch of it up this year....

When non state run radio ( Basilio, Swain, Russel Smith ) is singing the praises of Pruitt then you know we have something special in place. They don't kiss a$$ and tell it how it is.

They kind of have to do that...it's called giving opposing views to gain listeners. It's all part of the radio thing.

I dont understand how Will West voicing his opinion means he is slamming UT. He doesnt see the talent on our team, same as most analysts, and thinks we lose to a good WVU team. How does that mean he is anti-UT? Im a lifelong UT fan but I think we will be lucky to go 6-6. Am I horrible?

Its ridiculous to think a Knoxville media member cant have a negative opinion about the team. They arent paid to be homers, theyre paid to report and give their opinion. People said the same things about media members with negative opinions during the Dooley and CBJ eras. Well guess what, they were right.

Will West is just annoying. he could say we're the best thing since sliced bread, and i'd still turn it off. he's a blow hard that likes to hear his own voice.

i listen to Ainge after Swain, and i don't hate Josh Ward....i'd probably listen to the noon show if WW wasn't on it. i feel like that show has like an hour and a half of content, the rest of the time is a commercial, whether they're on the air or not.

my Knoxville sports radio day ends at noon basically.

I don't see how anyone can sit and listen to a full show by West. The guy can't talk. He sounds like he goes to the dentist before every show and has himself shot up with novocaine in both sides of his mouth. Of course I'm sure he would sound better if he would just back away from the microphone by a few inches, but I think with his personality he probably has to have the thing crammed all the way down to his throat.

I've known will for more than 20 years. You might not like what he says, but he has a queue when he's working. He went to Seymour high school and is a homer. If he could follow his own script, you guys would be in love with him.

1045 the zone, good station even if they had a crappy guest on at 11 today. on air staff is pretty good, and Dawn Davenport is on 3hl!

The Beavis and Butthead of the Sports Animal. I never have been able to figure out how these two were given a show on this station. It has always been impossible to listen to for more than 10 minutes. They have no insights, no contacts and no real knowledge of sports.

I admire Will West for what he has overcame in his life. But anything on The Sports Animal is just not good radio. I get better news about the Vols from internet sources.

Some pretty harsh stuff coming from anonymous message board users. Will said Butch had a ceiling of 8 wins from the get go, and I'm sure he got bashed for that too. The guy is doing a job. If you don't like it, don't listen. But it's kinda pathetic to come in here and take shots at either of them because they have an opposing opinion of yours.

Also, West Virginia is probably going to beat us by 10-14 points, and if/when they do, will you please come back and eat crow and admit that hating someone for not wearing your orange-colored glasses is stupid?

Will West is insecure. He looks like he has been kissing on the steam train in Blazing Fury at Dollywood. He’s as fat as he is tall, got DD sized Man boobs, and probably the junk of a Asian school boy. He also has the most annoying voice. If you factor in he hates his life which is why he hates everything he talks about it makes sense. Having a dog fart in your face is more entertaining than that damn radio show. He brings nothing to the discussion but his “superior opinions” and could host a sports show if #FakeNews CNN/MSNBC had one...cuz he seems like a whiny progressive.........

.....you factor in that annoying @$$ song at the beginning too....tops it all off to listen to North Korean radio broadcasts for a better format than that hot ball of garbage.

True talk...I’m just saying.

I have to say Will always looks at UT glass half empty. He claims he’s not a fan, and only wants to be “real” with the fans. However, I think the dude either hates UT athletics, or enjoys pissing UT fans off by taking a large crap on the program he gets paid to cover. Could be both, but either way you can tell he has a negative agenda for all things UT sports related.
