I agree average is important but it's also not always a reliable metric, especially when there is a significant discrepancy in the number of recruits or when you have an average weighted down by specialists on scholarship like kickers, long snappers, etc. The ratings of individual players can vary a lot overtime also, less so this year though because of the lack of camps. Overall I think the composite is pretty reliable. Also I think it's important to consider the rank within the conference, a "top 10 class" sounds great until you realize, as was the case last year, that 5-6 other SEC teams were ahead of us.I understand we are # 7 and # 9 in both services as far as total points but it is misleading because of the average as you stated. In my opinion when referring to UT’s current ranking on a given day , the ranking by recruit average should be referenced. Stating we are #7 or #9 does not provide an accurate description of where we really are compared to other schools.
Fire a coach who 90 minutes of football ago was going to win the East. Who 90 minutes ago was taking TN to the promise land. These are the same people who wanted to start HB in game 1 only 5 practices {due to his health and C19) out of high school.
Saban was 19 and 16 his first 3 years at Mich ST. Mike Leach was 23-16 at Texas Tech 12-25 at Wash ST. Most good coaches have similar first 3 yr records. I don't know if JP can or can not coach. Nor do you. Stay behind the team or find a new one. JP isn't going anywhere and these comments do not look good to recuirts.
I’d be surprised if Fulmer gets the opportunity to hire another football coachI think if we go 2-8, Fulmer's hand will be forced. At 4-6, Pruitt is safe but on super hot seat for 21.
3-7 would be interesting. He's likely safe but if team continues to quit, then Fulmer may pull plug to save his own rear.
Thank you brother. Preach.1. COVID
2. We have a top 10 recruiting class coming in at this point.
3. This is Fulmer's first hire, you REALLY think he is going to admit failure by firing him quickly?
4. Had no spring camp and no fall practices with everyone there.
5. 8 game win streak last year, showed improvement when given ample time and practices.
6. Just got an extension.
There is absolutely zero chance that Pruitt gets fired this year. He doesn't deserve to be. To this point, he has done a great job, and is building well. His only major fault right now is his uncanny loyalty to Guarantano, which I do not, and will not ever understand. I think the best thing that will happen for Pruitt is when he no longer has Guarantano as an option. He will have to roll out another option, and I hope it's Bailey or Salter.
Right? Like, who would you realistically get? Coaches take notice when you won't give them time to truly flip a culture and program. Nobody wants to come here. It's not like we had people banging at our door.Head coach at Troy? South Alabama? Brohm again. Really?
I think it’s possible.[/QUOTE
No, while all indications say Pruitt is not the guy, he’ll be here for awhile, at least 2 more years after this one. TN Football is irrelevant. Pruitt has one really good win in about 30 tries and that was at Auburn. Other than that he hasn’t beaten anyone that would qualify as a signature win. Unless he changes it up drastically and surprises his opponents, his record will mirror or quite possibly finish worse than the brick by brick layer before him.
Regarding discrepancies in the number of recruits, this can be true throughout the year prior to the two National Signjng Days. That is the sole purpose of looking at the average vs. total points. The number of recruits for each team will become more consistent especially after ESD. The rank within the conference is important regardless if you are looking at average or total points.I agree average is important but it's also not always a reliable metric, especially when there is a significant discrepancy in the number of recruits or when you have an average weighted down by specialists on scholarship like kickers, long snappers, etc. The ratings of individual players can vary a lot overtime also, less so this year though because of the lack of camps.
