I listen to The First Team on ESPN U on my drive in to work. McElroy was mentioning how most schools start their summer conditioning in mid to late May. For many programs this will be impossible as gyms (including University training centers) are closed by order of the Governors. For Georgia, Tennessee and all the other states lifting quarantines earlier that means our guys could get into the gym in May. How big an advantage will it be if our guys have a few extra weeks of conditioning versus other programs? I think most Southern schools will be lifting their quarantine May 1st so in the SEC it may not matter. I also just checked and Oklahoma is lifting their quarantine May 1st as well so no advantage their either. I guess the main issue I see is if the NCAA pushes everyone's summer conditioning back to June 1st so there is no perceived advantage.

Not sure why when the programs say "now we start conditioning", they couldn't just send out guidelines and tell everyone here it is. Now do it and be ready for (the date allowed to get back together) if you come in at less than expected condition, your season will be as a bench player until you get into shape or you may be asked to leave the program. If a guy wants to play, then he should be able to get himself ready, if not, then I question his "want to".

We are opening the state back up May 1st, however if you read the executive order it still has several aspects of sporting events and group functions barred till May 29th.
Even the items up for reopening on May 1st is very heavily stipulated, with restrictions and heavy sanitation guidelines. Also, Gov. Bill Lee is still asking for cooperation of keeping all gatherings to 10 and under until May 29th, due to the fact TN numbers are not leveled off or decreasing.

But you are assuming everyone has access to workout equipment. All the Highschools have been closed along with all the gyms and places like planet fitness. Couple that with social distancing so where and with whom is a person going to work out with?

Do you really think a guy couldn't find a place (even if he is the only one there) to work out? BS, a past coach or a gym owner or person with access to a gym who knows said college player/recruit would help him find a way "in".

I will say it is pretty hard. I live within 3 miles of Farragut High School. I had been going there and running on their track. I usually was the only one there so social distancing was not an issue. Last week they chained off all the gates and even blocked the road with cones and a gate that goes by the stadium and the baseball field. High Schools are not messing around.

Due to ole miss being shut down until August 1st, I doubt any sec team would be able to do anything until then out of fairness and keeping everyone on same rules. I don't know for a fact but I would imagine no other sec school could even consider doing anything until then that involves a face to face. An issue is not whether or not Tennessee is ready for football but whether other states are ready. If 8 out the 14 schools can play in fall and 6 cannot due to state restrictions then what happens. My guess is football is done for this year. Hope for vaccine or med changes. Then maybe spring.

From what I've read athletes arent going to be on campus until students are allowed on campus.

There are ZERO reasons medically not to do it. None of the guys are in high risk groups. All have constant medical supervision. These programs have the resources to routinely test for Covid if they so choose.

This is just one more absurdity in this circus over a virus with risks becoming more and more similar to the flu by the day.... with almost no risks to healthy people under 65.

It still won't effect our opponent's penchant for having an unfortunate cramp attack when we get in the red zone.
