Seems like we love to hate almost as much as we love to win. Wouldn't it be cool if Shoop proves to be the missing piece to our puzzle and in the bargain dooms Franklin and Malzahn? Talk about a hat trick! :clapping:

Yeah. I believe Butch had something like that in mind when he contacted him...:)
PS. Don't forget about our recent coaching addition from Miami...:good!:

I wouldn't count auburn as down and out just yet. Can't think of any other program that is up and down as much as they are. When it looks like they should do well they tank and vice versa, or so it seems.

Isn't that the truth. Gus's seat is getting a little warmer and you know what they say about wounded tigers...you don't...me neither...:)

At first Gus was an offensive innovator. A genius said many. Others have caught up. And most feel his DC hire was not a great one. We'll see.

Yes, but they had more good luck that season than any football team I've ever seen. College or pro.

The UGA game was luck. Bama couldn't stop them in the 2nd half so if they didn't win on the kick 6 they would have won in OT. And if you want to see luck please examine the 98 Vols against Syracuse, UF, and AR

Syracuse was clearly pass interference on them...not luck - just part of the game.

I'm not sure how you consider Florida having a mediocre field goal kicker as luck.

Arkansas was luck, but no one can be certain that we don't win anyway. They would have gained a lot of field position with a punt and we wouldn't have much time left on the clock. We certainly wouldn't be able to just hand it off to Henry and march down the field, but Tee could throw the ball.

If the first two are luck, then all NC teams are just lucky.

So tru - & typically their "up" swing comes when they're on our schedule!

You must not have watched many Florida games this year. We were not the only ones who lost to them in ridiculous fashion. We beat ourselves, as did UK, FAU and Vandy had them till the refs stepped in for the save.

It kills me when I hear people claim the Ark game in '98 was " luck". If you remember in the 4th Qtr. the Ark punter had the ball snapped over his head and kicked it out of their end zone to keep us from getting the ball. The refs should have called a penalty and our ball inside their 20 yard line and instead incorrectly called a safety. We would have scored the TD and won the game vs. getting the Stoerner fumble ( luck maybe). That would have never happened.

:clapping:Franklin's fate is sealed with the loss of his DC Shoop. Penn State will dump him next year. When he heard of the loss of Shoop probably had to have a change of underwear! Serves him right after mouthing off while at Vanderbilt.:eek:lol:

I don't care for Franklin either but the best way to hurt any coach or team is simply to WIN.

buTch did WIN in the coaching fights 2 times and both will be huge for us.

1st he badly hurt the former UGa coach, now Miami HC, by stealing away Coach Scott and probably our WIN of the game in such a huge comeback is why he's no longer the HC at UGa so that could be considered as a double WIN for us and buTch.

2nd it really hurt Franklin and Penn State when buTch did WIN by stealing away Coach Shoop which is really HUGE for us.

That hurt even more because Tennessee isn't paying the $800.000. buyout and it's more salt in the wound for PSU and Franklin, LOL!

Now we need to focus and WIN on our recruiting and keep putting the hurt on other teams by taking top recruits away.

Then we hurt them even more when we start adding up WIN after WIN next season.

Just WIN baby and the Big Orange pain train will keep rolling along.

Building a Champion #BrickbyBrick & Coach by Coach...VFL...GBO!!!

Your last sentence is true. Every coach will tell you it takes luck, ball bouncing right way and every other cliche to win a NC.

Franklin is about to experience a little something called KARMA.

I don't say this just because he left one school for another. Heck, I can't blame him for leaving Vandy for Penn State. I just think he is a narcissistic slick-talking snake-oil salesman. I actually hate it for Penn State that they have to deal with him.

Billy Ratliff PLOWED the ARK OG into the QB (Stoener) and caused that LUCK. THEN Henry and the UT Oline Pummeled Ark all the way to the Endzone. IF FULMER had spoken up EARLIER in the Fourth, and said RUN THE DAMN BALL-------The VOLS wouldn't have needed that LUCK. TEE MARTIN couldn't hit the Broad side of a barn that day. I watched it. And have it on vhs-----------------
