Will Pruitt pipe recorded music into Neyland Stadium?

Fulmer used to talk about a spectator mentality.
Butch was really into that,
Getting music piped in to practices and to games.

Seems like a bit of an affront when you have gifted and driven musicians their and suited up.

Anyone know if he is old school on expecting the live band to play Rocky Top and whatever is needed to engage the audience?

Fulmer won more games than Butch did.

Pretty sure he said something along the lines of if they're listening to music they're not listening to me, so no.

Call me a traditionalist but I always hated the piped in music.

People ought to be excited enough about what's going on on the field - and when there's a break in the action we have one of the best bands anywhere to entertain - the pride of the south land band.

There's definitely going to be music. Practice he wants their attention. Games have to have atmosphere for hype, and students love it. Not saying it'll be a dance club atmosphere, but there will be music. Kiffin had it way before Butch too.

I heard from a reliable source (think name on a building type booster) that Pruitt is going to dust of the awesome 1st down chant of "Rocky Top Clap Clap Clap".

You can call me one too, Hill Man! :hi: Despise piped in music, especially the synsonic remix like I heard at Hoover. Pounding of synthetic kick drum had my ears ringing, & the mix of traditional songs with unmusical BOOM-BOOM-whack is reprehensible. Let the P.O.T.S. Band play at the game & play SONGS rather than the mindless riffs. There, I said it again. :whistling:

It's football. Save the piped in noise for the mosh pit. For us folks that watch the games from afar, I sure wish we could hear the play by play from the Tennessee announcers. It sure would make a difference. (The delay is problematic)

Are you talking about on TV? If so, the only way to sync it up is to hit pause on your TV until the audio catches up. With the different cable companies on different delays there's no way sync it from the studio.

I have to re-adjust it several time when I do this because I listen through I Heart Radio. Their delay jumps around depending on the commercials that run.

Yeah me and my buddy do that for every first down.... it’s so stupid, it’s hilarious

It always surprised me how much folks here thought Butch was involved in decisions like this. Then it surprised me even more when Butch admitted that, yes, he did have a role in some of it.

I could be wrong again, but my guess is that Jeremy is far too busy being football coach to worry about what music gets played in the stands during the game. His role is what happens on the field. Let the director of the band, or the head of the cheerleaders, or someone else worry about music and the sound system.

Uh, yeah in the 21st century stadiums should probably have speakers and also use them. The idea is for you to be entertained and enthused the entire time you are there. Kids with tubas and clarinets are gonna be pretty damn tired if you put that entirely on them.

Also, the people who make all the noise, aka young people, typically get more excited about music with a beat over marching band music.

Marching band music has a beat. Normally 4/4 or 3/4, at an ideal rate of 110 beats per minute (marching pace).

You probably meant to say "modern music over marching band music." Just pointing out, "the beat" has existed pretty much as long as music has. :)

I have no clue what any of that means but this guy agrees with everything you wrote.

In all seriousness, if the band is going to be more involved I hope that more in their playlist other than Rocky Top and the Immigrant Song.

Far as I'm concerned, they could play Rocky Top on repeat all night long, at every break in play, and I'd never tire of it.

You're right about Butch, though; he'd know. Hey, maybe that's why he got so involved in the "showmanship" element surrounding the sport, even as a coach....
