Will Patriots play decline?

I never said Brady would not be good. I just think Brady would in the mix for top 7-8 instead of in the top two or three if not for Beliceck.

He's in the top two.

Manning
Brady
Brees
Romo
Favre
Roethlisberger
Hasselback
Mcnabb
Garrard
Cutler
Eli

i just randomly rattled that off... not sure why.

Was Beliceck's time there more of a learning experience or do you believe the team he put together with the Patriots made him.

I know I seemed to have indicated otherwise but I am not quite sure if it is Beliceck, the team or a little of both that has brought the patriots so much success.

If, as Tennesseefan07 likes to think, Bill is the greatest coach ever, he would have won in Cleveland.

He's a pretty damn good coach that had surrounded himself with excellent assistants. He's got a GM and an owner that want to win as well.

He struck gold with Brady. The New England D wasn't too shabby before he got there.

Let me start by saying I believe Brady is a good QB. He has had the luxury of a pretty good to excellent receiving corp during his tenure. The addition of Moss was the key to their success last year. His biggest help came from the defensive side of the ball, yes, a good defense is a QB's best friend, it helps to keep the pressure off the offense. This asset is in decline as their defense over all is aging and loosing a step at many positions. Put Brady on another team and he would still be good, not great but good, say around the top 7-9. I think Brady needs Beliceck more than Beliceck (sp?) needs him.

What has the hoody won without Brady?

Look at the success the WRs and RBs that played with him had once they left New England.

David Patten has found a niche in New Orleans but that was after he fell off the map once he signed with Washington.

Deion Branch well his time in Seattle speaks for itself.

Where's J.R. Redmond and Antowain Smith now?

Yes but these receivers success could also fall into the system argument too, no?

Both.

I'm not going to say that Brady is "overrated," quite, but it's amazing how much his reputation shot up last year once he was throwing to Randy Moss. If whoever plays QB for the Patriots can scrape by well enough to keep Moss engaged, they'll be okay. Not "win the Super Bowl" okay, probably, but certainly "make the playoffs" okay. They've got the easiest schedule in the NFL this year.
I'm thinking last year did nothing but solidify the reputation he made by winning 3 super bowls on some iffy offensive squads.

Brady's reputation as a great QB can take a hit if Cassel comes in and puts up anything similar. Not saying Brady isn't a good QB, but if Cassel leads them to at least to the AFC Championship Game appearance people can say, "Hey it was the system".

My prediction that the Dolphins will beat New England at New England this year just got a little better. Personally, I think the Jets take them behind the woodshed this week. ESPN needs it.

I see your point but I don't think it hurt Montana that Young had great success.

If Cassel comes in and puts up Brady like numbers, I wonder if Brady could possibly lose the starting job the way Bledsoe did to him.

47 Super Bowl victories is a pretty solid base for Montana. Young having to face Johnson's Cowboys, a much better team than Montana ever beat, just couldn't crack into that base because he kept getting beat by one of the best teams ever.
