The fact he was jawing at a guy who has torched our secondary his entire career tells you all you need to know about Hefney. Loser.

that's what I was thinking, why is Hefney taunting anyone? The guy has been the most overrated player on our defense all year.

Please explain what happened there?
He asked Jam what he thought about people saying he wasn't running hard to protect himself for the NFL. Jam explained to him that would be a good way to get hurt really, really badly.

Hat, you think its over for CPF? I mean really is he done at UT? I'm not intentionally antagonizing anyone -- I'm truly wondering if this loss is the proverbial straw.

Oh well, he's only hurting his NFL draft status for next year. It will all come back to him.

I've seen Hefney at a Cumberland Ave establishment. He's about 5'8". He can't hit and he's shorter, so his future at safety is doubtful. He can't cover anyone, so there's no future at CB either.

Honestly, I can't imagine that he actually wants to come back. He'll have an inexperienced QB, another brutal schedule, and fans are going to be ready to pounce. Ask Buzz Peterson how much fun it is to coach in Knoxville when the fans have completely turned on you. Then, multiply that by 50 to account for the difference in passion between football and basketball at UT.

Yet we have people like Inky Johnson and Jason Allen that have their season and careers cut short due to injury when they're working there butt off trying to make plays. Hefney should think about some of this stuff before he suits up.

It seems the only logical thing left for phil to do would be to step down. But will he do it is the million dollar question. It would be better for both party's involved if he did.

That's my perception as well. I don't see why he would want to continue to be criticized like he has been and it seems like it will be at least another year or two before UT is considered an SEC contender, with the loss of Ainge. Then again, the defense should be better, shouldn't it? If the right coach came in, maybe get a pleasant surprise or two at QB and WR development ...

Senior leadership:
2005: Jesse Mahaluna (sp), Rick Clausen, Albert Toina (sp), and Chris Hannon

2007: Johnathan Heffney, Ryan Karl, Xavier Mitchell and Erik Ainge

Albert Toeaina, the guy who spit on a camera man after Vandy beat us...

And Rick Clausen, who lost to Vanderbilt...

And yet, you still have a few people out there hoping that these "senior leaders" can rally the troops to close out the year. Seems like we could very easily have players leaving helmets on the field after a loss to Vandy...

I really can't say that he was a leader, because I don't know if he was... I did, in general, like our front 7 that year just because we stopped the run...

I may be mistaken, but I thought he was a team captain at some point that year. But then again, we rotate team captaincies around like joints on the Snoop Dogg tour bus.

When I mean leader I'm not sure if he was a leader, I'm not saying he wasn't a captain, I'm saying I don't think he was a big verbal leader for the team or something like that. He certainly wasn't Al Wilson or anything like that.

Outside of maybe Foster, this team doesn't have a leader on on the field or on the sidelines.
