This is just a thread for discussion no info at all to suggest this would happen. Just want the Board's take.

The rumors on ESPN are suggesting that Miles is one of MICH's top choices for HC. If Miles leaves does LSU come after CDD. I know the people down there have said great things about him and got to see him work first hand at La Tech.

I don't think CDD would even have a discussion with them, but it seems like a place LSU would look if Miles leaves?

What do you think?

If they did come after him, it would be great to have CDD publicy shun them, and say NO THANKS, I'm All TN.

I wouldn't mind him leaving...

...but I don't think LSU would go after him when they can do better. Then again, they did hire Les Miles...

If you wouldn't mind CDD leaving, then I submit sir, you are logically challenged.

I don't believe CDD would leave. Unlike many in todays "I've got to have everything world" I honestly believe he would honor his contract.

Here is an article from Jan. 2010 regarding LSU's Interest in CDD.

How many Vol fans realize that LSU had Derek Dooley on their radar as a replacement for Les Miles at LSU? I didn't until Derek Dooley was hired by UT and heads were spinning at LSU. Derek Dooley was the direction that LSU wanted to go in if Les Miles was kicked off his hot seat. Derek Dooley being hired as a head coach at a Southeastern Conference school was not a matter of if, but when.

Bang The Weasel: Dooley was LSU's next direction

LSU hiring an unproven coach would be as silly as Tennessee hiring an unproven coach from LA Tech...oh, wait! I like Dooley, but I think he has a whole lot of work to do before another large program comes calling.

If Dooley were to leave, who could we possibly get immediately to set the program back ANOTHER year?

Seriously. CDD leaving at this point would be the equivalent of "the death penalty."

Amen to that. That is exactly the tonic that the program needs. A fourth coach in four years.

I woulodn't be surprised at all if LSU sniffs around, though. I just hope that CDD appreciates that Tennessee gave him his big break and stays put.

This. I can't beleive some would say they wouldn't mind him leaving under this situation. CDD leaving right before signing day, after this happening last year would crush the program. Even if you don't think CDD is the long term solution you have to agree the program needs a few years of satbility to get a soild roster.

CDD won't leave, he doesn't wanna end up like lame kiffin he's commited to this program IMO & whoever says they wouldn't have a problem with CDD leaving has lost there mind.

Roster turnover and good coach >>> "stable" roster with disappearing wins (LSU, UNC, etc.)

I honestly don't see Dooley leaving. He doesn't strike me as a jumper, he has a challenging job at a high profile school in a very challenging conference. I honestly believe he wants the challenge and wants to make his mark here much like his father did at Georgia.

Granted I could be wrong but Dooley appears to be an integrity guy and not the grass is always greener types.

I think LSU would show interest.....I don't think Dooley would return it though......God help us if he did leave though

LSU fans do care for Dooley and many of them hated to see us get him in the hopes he would be Miles successor. However, I DO NOT see Dooley leaving if Miles heads to Ann Arbor.

remember when kiffin wasn't qualified for the usc job?

Which is why he wasn't their first choice...so? Wouldn't hurt that much if it happens again, we would just have to get a better replacement

I can almost assure you that Dooley won't leave UT unless asked to. Everyone inside the administration and athletic department love Dooley and feel that he was a steal and that he has things going in the right direction.

Hamilton knows he has found a gem. I can't say for sure, but I bet he thinks he should have made the call on Dooley before hiring Lane.

And the best part, Dooley is truly happy at UT. It's in the SEC. It's not Georgia. And he has been giving the reins to what he considers one of the top programs in the history of college football.

The one thing UT will have to do is make sure they keep Dooley well compensated as he will be a target for a lot of programs in the future. But his intent is to stay at UT and build a legacy.

And to those of you who would like to see Dooley go.... why? What don't you like about him or his program?

If CDD left, the 2011 class would fall apart (less EE's than 2010). Plus no big name coach, and i mean NONE, would consider the TN job no matter the salary when they would be the fourth head coach in as many years.

Why? We'd have a few less 3 stars?

unless we brought in bill cowher, our signing class would be wrecked. You can't possibly believe dooley leaving would be anything other than disastrous.
