We are on the list of six 5 star recruits. We are on the list of nineteen 4 star recruits. We are on the list of three top 100 Juco recruits; DB, DL, and WR.

Hopefully, Kiffin will steal a 5 star QB from another team. Miss St and Auburn are good targets to steal a couple of 4 star prospects. I would love to see him steal one or two from UA or UF.

Regradless, if, Kiffin can land one or two 5 star players, five or six 4 star players, and one or two top 100 Juco prospects. We should land in the top 5 in recruiting!!!!!!! Patrick Turner saying in the Tennessean that Kiffin lets freshman have a chance to earn a starting spot their very first year will help build the fence in TN and help us land some great prospects!!!!!!!

YOU GO KIFFIN!!!!!!! :dance2:

No. I think it will be top 10 though when all is said and done which is more than we could have hoped for given the situation.

Well, the ranking of the signing class was 7 when Fulmer was fired. I know it was due to 19 commitments I believe the average was 3.44 stars.

I think anything less than 10 will be unsuccessful. They have two months to make an impact on those on the fence.

From the de-commits to the late start on the recruiting campaign the top 10-15 would be considered a success. Most top talent has already firmly committed and the other top recruits who have yet to decide not all have UT on their list. Go to College Football: Rivals.com - College Football and look at the top 50 for highschool recruits for each position and you will have a better idea of who is available.

There are four 5 star and nineteen 4 star who haven't committed. There is also three top 100 jucos who have us on their list. It is very feasible to think we can land six to seven of those twenty six. If, they want to go somewhere with a great possibility of starting as a freshman.

We were 7th at the time, but we would have been passed by schools that have added commitments since that time. We probably would right out of the top 10 right now, not factoring in the loss of Tajh Boyd.

It's not about the rankings though, folks. And I know everyone knows that. But it's about getting the right guys for your system, and filling needs. IMO we will be successful in that with this class.

I was just about to ask thanks. I think we'll land in the top 10. I just hope we get a DT that can pressure the QB. We need a freak.

Most of the pressure on the quarterback will be coming from the ends in Monte Kiffin's system. We need big bodied DT's that can stuff the run more. Edwin Herbert is just that kind of guy IMO.

26 recruits/120 FBS schools/ with the likes of Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Bama, Florida, Georgia and Penn St who typically close the undecided and rank high in the recruiting class each year. It will be a tall task to think UT can close 20 to 30% of the undecided. I am sure we will go after a few of the Auburn de-commits.

Herbert is as strong a UT lean as you can get. He's almost a certainty IMO. We are going after several other highly recruited DT's not sure how successful we are going to be on them.

This class will be in the 10-15 range. Look out next year though.

I Agree. I thinks its to late in the recruiting process to pull to many out of anywhere. If we shore what we have and get back a few of the ones we had decommit after CPF's firing we might be able to get up to 10.

the best kiffin can do is salvage what he can out of fulmer's class. anything else will be gravy this year.

Tennessee Commit List for 2009

There's only one commit, so far for DT 6'3" 273 out of California

Edwin Herbert should rejoin this class eventually, assuming Kiffin tells him what he wants to hear. Also, Montori Hughes, from the 2008 signing class, will be enrolling at UT this Spring. Cory Hall (2007 signing class) should hopefully get in to UT soon. Depending on how much bigger he's gotten since HS, he could be another DT prospect.

Scout has us 7th in SEC right now.....for me anything outside the top five in SEC will be a failure.

Thanks
defense recruiting should improve, once Monte and his staff are official

It doesn't look good for Hall but he would be great if his academics were better. He didn't sound too high on CLK in an article I read either.

What does it really matter? As long as a good athletic base is there a good staff will 'coach them up'. Lord knows Phil had to have an outstanding team on the field to overcome his coaching failures.

We also have Steven Fowlkes at DE and G. Williams can play DE. As long as Dan Willaims stays we will be fine on the DL just like we were this year.
