Barring an injury, Foster will mostly likely become UT's career rushing leader. Pretty elite company he will be passing; Jamaal Lewis, James Stewart, Charlie Garner, Travis Henry, etc. He has 2394 yds and needs 3079 to pass Travis Henry.

I like Arian Foster, but Travis Henry averaged 5.5 ypc, and Arian Foster is currently at 4.8. He'll have about 150+ more carries than Henry, barring injury.

Yards per carry is an overlooked number for some reason. All folks want to see it total yards and TD's.

After thinking about it, Foster is on the outside looking in if we put a top 10 list together.

I am going to vote Chuck Webb on this one....

I agree! Best talent. I was watching the Cotton bowl from 1991 and it made me remember how dominant he was. It's a shame he couldn't keep his head on straight or he would have been one of the all time college and nfl greats.

It was more the case of keeping his knee on straight.

name your top 10 then.
Webb
Lewis
Cobb
Stephens
Morgan
Henry
J. Jones
Garner
Stewart
Cafego
Majors
Houston
Stanback
Feathers

More than 10 and some before my time, but I'd probably put all of these guys ahead of Foster.

Was Morgan really an RB?

I'd put AF ahead of Houston definitely. I'd put him in with Stewart.

I don't think there's a lot of space between him and the best at UT.

Morgan was a hybrid at UT, but had a lot of carries.

AF just doesn't have the wheels to keep with Houston and is a much easier tackle than Stewart.

There is a mile from AF to CW.

I'd put foster in ahead of houston and stewart. Time has a funny way of distorting things....

Not in order but players I would put ahead of Foster

Webb
Garner
Lewis
Henry
Stephens
Stewart
Cobb
Graham
Hayden
Johnnie Jones

Depending on what Foster does this season maybe Cedric Houston.

Also I'm not including guys that played in the 30's.

i, too, would put Foster ahead of Houston.

Hayden averaged 5.2 ypc over his career to Foster's 4.6. Houston averaged 5.3.

I like Foster, but I have not seen from him the type a game-breaking ability that, in particular, Chuck Webb and Jamal Lewis had.

Some of the others probably benefited from having better O-lines than Foster has thus far... Henry, Hayden, Little Man, Stephens, Cobb, Garner and Graham.

Many, if not most, of those guys were faster than Foster. I will say that Foster is a better receiver out of the backfield than most of those.

At the end of the day, Foster is benefiting from the circumstances, namely lack of competition at the RB spot and years of service, to get the yardage title. But he has never reminded me of J Lewis or C Webb.

That being said, he still has a year to define his legacy. I'm sure we could all agree that we would love for him to have a season that would unanimously put him in the top 5 or even top 10.

I'm a Foster fan because I think he's a pretty smart runner and takes what is made available to him. He's a tough takedown for the first tackler. However, he does not strike fear in opposing defenses in the least. He isn't going yard on a single play. Many of the others on the list had that ability.

Well said.

Sadly, at this point he is most known for his fumbles.
