Will Crompton play much this year?

Duh, of course I knew all that what is the point. Injury got it started so what? It got started and Helton played best but Manning showed the most promise. Yeah we can recap every detail but not what I was looking to do. It was also the injury that led to Majors' demise. And time after time no one reads the whole post or just read what they want, um reread my post something there about Manning exploding the next year not his freshman.
And agreeing that Cutcliffe made that statement but made others and held a near open competition. My point was only and only that Crompton will get playing time if games get out of hand at all and will be end if Ainge plays real bad over a few games(not likely to happen). And Crompton will be the guy next year unless he loses the job from his own play. Just like Ainge a year ago thats all. Holy smokes you would think I was trying implement a new property tax. Crompton did not have time to breath in the pocket today, which is a good sign for our D.
if that was your point, this is honestly the first time i think it's been accurately conveyed.

On a more nostalgic note, who almost broke into tears in the beginning of that UCLA game when Colquit got hurt?

. At this point, Ainge has really mastered game management abilities. That is what Crompton needs to understand to make the jump as an elite quarterback. He wants to make the big play and needs to slow the game down. .

Vol423 this is my last response on this topic. But I am happy to give literacy tutoring later. All I can say is you need to be able to read to succeed. And the article and my posts are all you need to read. :salute:

I must be missing something here. :dunno:

Should have said a injury his heart problems. Was stating another fact that I never stated that had nothing to do with what I was trying to say. Meaning, there are many things a person could say that did not seem relevant to me. I assumed everyone knew manning got time because colquit got hurt. Fulmer is our coach because Majors had drinking and heart problems. But not relevant to me at least. Sorry for the confusion. :pardon:

You're not making it any better.

Just for clarification, both Manning and Clausen became starters in their freshman year.

I'm talking about we never took Manning/Martin/Clausen out of the game just so they can put in the 2nd stringer to get snaps. The 2nd string qb only played if we were up several scores and had the game wrapped up.

If anyone here needs to be tutored in reading comprehension it is you. You are the only person in this entire thread that misinterprets that article. The fact that Cutcliffe said that there was an open competition for the QB position does not mean that the competition was remotely close. Cutcliffe NEVER said that Crompton was giving Ainge a run for the starting QB job. Only you (and other like-minded delusional Crompton fans that were ready to kiss his butt in the middle of the UT campus once he committed to UT) have ever stated that Crompton gave Ainge a run for the starting QB job last year.

The problem appears to be the fact that you're attributing the entire article to Cutcliffe. Here's a reading tip for you. Cutcliffe only said the things attributed to him and then included inside quotation marks. All other commentary in that article is the JOURNALIST'S opinion, not Cutcliffe.

Barring any injury to Ainge,if there comes a point this season whereby Ainge becomes stale/ineffective, would Fulmer bring Crompton in and start building for next year?

I hope Crompton doesnt have to play but if he does we are in trouble either way you look at it....last year he did not impress me a bit for someone that has had time to study the offense....I thought he looked terrible even tho he kept us in the game...I just thought he looked terrible and dont see him as a viable replacement for EA when he graduates

NO, he wasn't. He had trouble running laterally, which is why they never ran the option with him. He was effective running straight ahead, but only did it occaisionally. LET ME REITERATE IT FOR YOU. TEE MARTING WAS NOT A RUNNING QB. HE WAS A DROPBACK PASSER. EVEN WAS QUOTED AS SAYING HE DIDN'T LIKE TO RUN. HAS THE SINGLE GAME COMPLETION % RECORD.

Truefan...While Martin did not focus on his running, nor did the coaches he was not a "pocket passer"....He threw on the run (rollout passes) alot and could scramble if he had to unlike manning, ainge, clausen, clausen, etc....I agree with you in the sense that he "was not a running qb" but he also can not be considered a pocket passer either...I was just the other night watching the 1998 NC season highlite DVD of all the games....more so than not Tee Martin got out of the pocket and made plays...scrambling to several TD's while inside say the 25....:whistling:

Unless Ainge is hurt, with our schedual I do not see a blowout so Crompton should get a drink some corn and a soft pillow for the pine and enjoy the show.
