The play made on the opening kickoff has too often been squandered away in the past. Great job securing the ball on the sideline with a guy running right into your face. You set the tone for the entire game. That was by far our best special teams performance of the season.

Glad you put his name up here. It’s frustrating in games when special teams players make a tackle or a recovery like this. The play by play guy and his spotter are to lazy to look on the roster to tell the audience. I had to use my IPhone to google the roster after we scored. Just sportscaster malfeasance and very lazy. They actually pay these people.

Thats exactly why I did it. We preach special teams importance but rarely recognize the guys that make the great plays unless its a big run or something.

Yep. I said his name in the in-game thread for the same reason…a walk-on makes the play of his career and they don’t even say his name. Ridiculous.

Players like Brooks aren't on the media's agenda. Don't think they have one? Well.....watching the Alabama game last night I couldn't believe how many times they showed a hurt QB on the sidelines rather than the players actually on the field.....the players that actually scored/run/tackled. They primarily did this going into a commercial break. Agenda indeed.

AS TO THESE BOOTH GUYS - - In particular the "color guy". He irritated me to the point that I turned the sound off between plays. Until it got to me, if was amused at the way he could make a bonehead play by LSU sound like it was ok or the best way for it to be handled. He and the announcer both were excited on everything LSU did that came close to being a good effort. By the same token very little emotion when UT did something good. That is until near the end, it was like turning on a light in a dark room. At this point, it seem they had decided UT could beat Bama and Ga. and that Hook was at this point the HT winner! Oh well, that's what happens when you get the "second team" guys. Needless to say I think they were amateur professionals. (at least the color guy)

Yep I felt the same way. I knew he had a short stent in the NFL but didn’t know what college. Was beginning to think LSU but looked up Dan Orlovsky UCONN. That’s why never heard of him till he went to the NFL for a cup of coffee.

I think they were doing their best to keep the audience interested in the midst of a rout. A difficult task considering what UT was doing to them. Here’s a question for everyone. How long has it been since we could use the term “rout” in a game against a name program in their stadium or in our stadium for that matter? I’m having trouble coming up with one but that’s what is so great about what Heupel has done in a short time.

I thought he was the best color analyst that I've heard in many years. Guy was very very knowledgeable. Calling out pressures and routes pre-snap. Every time he was spot on. I'd like to get him every game this year.

Yeah he drew Hyatt’s exact route for his second touchdown on the telestrator before the snap. I thought that was pretty impressive.

If what I was being subjected to was trying to keep the interest up, then they are, as I said, POOR at their jobs. If the comic way they tried to make everything LSU did (good or bad) appear to be "just great", then OK, they held some people's interest. Not mine..

Yes, he handled that portion well enough. However his LSU slant just bugged me to no end. I will say this though, there is no need to fill every second between plays with continuing chatter. If I personally wanted this in-depth analysis, I would try to go the the team breakdown meetings of the game tapes.

This is true, and it's because they want to tell heart-warming and/or tragic stories to expand the appeal of the game to casual viewers. For example, they spent several minutes telling Byron Young's journey from working at Dollar General to JUCO to Vols. Unfortunately, this only applies to starting players on O and D, and to coaches.

It wasn’t too bad. But I thought they were hyping LSU and I’m thinking they what have they done ? We’re leading by 20 and they sound as if LSU had the lead …
