Will any of these Tennessee Football records realistically ever be broken?

I think there are some passing records that could be broken. I was lucky enough to witness The Future’s 256 against LSU and equally unlucky enough to witness Mark Jones 90 yard TD reception against UGA in that 2003 debacle.

I was there too for the LSU post 911 game.

That is one of the most memorable experiences of my life. That was my first Tennessee game versus an SEC opponent and as a college student. That was a truly special weekend and game.

I think the passing ones will all be broken, but maybe not career yards for Manning. That one will depend on some hall-of-famer staying 4 years.

That losses by a starting quarterback is shocking, really. Truly shocking.

Single game and single season marks are always vulnerable, especially with 12 games now instead of 10 or 11. Not likely that any Manning-level QB stays 4 years now so his are probably safer.

I would say simply compare our school records to the sec records. If these records are conference records as well then these will be very tough to beat. However, if it is simply a school record, then it’s made to be broken. GBO!

Why not? Because some of those records require 4 years of game experience and the players also need to be very talented. Talented players [as a rule] do not stay 4 years anymore!

Yes. Guessing most of the passing ones will, since the game is evolving more in that direction every year. And Henry’s career rushing yard record isn’t really that impressive of a number. One would think UT would have someone with 4,000 yards at this point. Hurd would have if he’d stayed 4 years.

Tennessee has always had multiple backs to share the load. One year they had a 1000yd rusher, 2 with 700+ and yet another with over 500.

For the record, I'd say Kelsey Finch's 99 yd TD against The Gators will stand forever.

I don’t see anyone breaking Fuad’s career and single season FG records with teams seeing the need for touchdowns. Modern offenses would often rather roll the dice on 4th instead of settling for 3

That's valid. The way the rules are favoring the offense. I can see some things being accomplished in three years that used to take four years.

Shutouts per season and tackles are gonna be tough to break though!

Hurd easily had the rushing record broken until he went Rogue and broke away from lyle. If Kamara had started here for 3 years, he would have shattered a few records as well. Evan Berry minus injury had the return record easily within sights ( that one will be tough now due to rule changes for KOs ).

Yea we had alot of guys that could be the rushing leader. Most of them were stacked on top of each other. You have to be the feature back for 3 years to do it.

Exactly. I think the career passing records will be a challenge because it's pretty rare for a QB to get 40+ starts.

You almost have to throw for 4k at least twice and you probably need to be a really good true freshman just to have a shot.

Of course Finch's 99 yd run wont be broken so I think the tackles records would be the hardest to break nowadays with the way the rules set up for the offense and teams seem to not run as much anymore. Records are meant to be broken tho so who knows,,,,,,,
