Probably the most interesting thing that came out of the first two practices was Urban Meyer admitting that they were looking at Joe Haden as possibly a part time player at quarterback in the “Wildcat” formation. Haden was a quarterback in high school and broke all of the state of Maryland's passing records before he left. He is now an All-American cornerback, but that evidently won't keep them from giving him a look on offense.

CUM is going to use his AA.

Interesting tidbit, but a bait-and-switch title.

You had my gears turning, there. :)

Lets see.... You take a proven system that has won the NC twice in 3 years and change it!
I LOVE IT!

That's not what they have indicated verbally or in practice. But I guess you did say "feeling."

We heard that coming out of practice on Friday. Sadly, practice is closed for the rest of the year now, so information coming out of Gainesville is going to be limited, but I doubt you'll see this formation too often, if at all.

I think its one of those Urban Meyer psychological warfare bombs, where he threatens you with this formation, and hopes people prepare for it, but they'll never see it.

Like he might use it against CSU for a couple of plays just to say, "I can pull this out whenever I want so you better not forget about it..."

I don't think it will make a huge impact, however.

Not sure why CUM would use Haden in a wildcat package when he has Tebow. They are in the wildcat package every play when Tebow is in there IMO, because you never know if he going to run it, throw it, or pitch it. Maybe Haden would mix it up a little, but doesn't make much sense to me. Oh well, that's their problem.

Urban and staff add a new wrinkle every year. It's been that way ever since he arrived in 2005. I think it's working.

Kiffin has said at media day that he's not going to use berry on offense b/c he feels it's probably the player's last year and he doesn't want to get him hurt before that. He wants to use berry to the best of his abilities so the scouts can see, but he already said he's not having berry line up behind center

The advantage of using Haden would be the added dimension of a 4.4 guy breaking a long run. Tebow is dangerous, but usually not for more than 5-10 yards at a time.

For whatever its worth, I think this is a great idea. Tebow is not in the same mold as Haden. It will add a wrinkle, if Haden is a good decision maker.

don't you think if berry had that type of ability that he'd at least would have been returning punts during the fulmer years?

I guess we will see. But i like him changing the formation so his boy can get drafted into the NFL. We will see how that wrinkle works.

Fulmer always said that he didn't want to get berry injured doing something like that and that it would have been a monumental mistake that would have been his fault had something like that happened.

So he had the ability, but fulmer didn't want to risk losing him on defense (and he wasn't really a risk taker either)

All this Wildcat talk, does anyone really have any real success with the wildcat. I saw it in a handful of plays last year with the Dolphins and with McFadden at Arkansas. Yeah the Dolphins got a couple of touchdowns with it and the only reason that McFadden was even in the Wildcat is because there QB's were so terrible. So what is all the facination with the Wildcat?? I hope that we never have to run the Wildcat personally, that just means our qb play is crap and our version the G-gun didnt really impress me much last year either. I am not into gimmicks much, I had rather line them up and hit em in the mouth for 4 quarters.
