I read the article on ESPN bout Muschamp going to Florida. Brown said he was going to do a nationwide search for a DC. Is it possible Wilcox would jump if offered? He is a young DC who has a good rep. Not a prediction, just a thought. Personally I think they could hire from within the staff or a NFL asst.

Not a chance they even offer, IMO. He's just not a big enough name for texas. Like you said I think they could go NFL if they wanted.

It's a lateral move, he wouldn't do it. Texas will get Randy Shannon.

There are several outlets that are saying Shannon will end up at UK. That's coming from cat fans, I don't get on their boards so I'm really not sure who the sources are.

Would like some consistency with this staff and keep Wilcox but if he goes, I wouldn't think we would have a hard time replacing him with someone better.

Why do we always do this? Was Wilcox named by any media source? If not let a sleeping dog sleep.

If Texas wants him (which they won't), they can have him. That's just my opinion though.

Doubt it, Wilcox is not on the national radar (yet). Give him a few years and with some good recruiting and on the field performances and we may have some reasons to be concerned.

I understand Texas has money... BUT guys WE'VE got money too... LOTS of it. We're one of a hand full of schools operating with a surplus WITH building several improvements to our facilities. Remember just last year we were paying a DC a million dollars a year.

We can match damn near any other offer in the country... IF we want to.

Randy Shannon most likely. He was supposed to go to Texas as their DC before he was hired at Miami.

Wilcox is absolutely on the national radar. Where do you think he was born? Bell Buckle?

Nah. But is it just me or does it seem like everyteam except Nebraska in the bog 12 play weak soft d. Scores are always like 37-44

Not implying that he is local by any means, but instead simply saying that even when he was at Boise, he was not nationally sought after - close but not quite. And with just one year at UT, we have certainly not put him on the map yet. My expectations would be that Texas would be looking for a big name that could potentially take over the HC role in the near future.

Yeah, I'm sure it doesn't have anything to do with the talent at QB and WR the conference has been putting in the NFL by the dumptruck load over the last few seasons.

Like the sec doesn't put that out. And most of the time the big 12 sucks against other conferences (sec,big10,pac10,acc)

Exactly. We may not have had the best few years but we are still a national powerhouse. I dont think they would want him after this year anyway. Not that it was his fault. Looking forward to him getting his recruits in and the system down. I really hope next year looks better.
