Worst Tennessee defense I've seen in my lifetime. While I now obviously have my doubts about everyone on our coaching staff, Wilcox needs to be the first to go. Georgia is far from great and I thought we'd beat them. Well, we can forget upsetting LSU or Alabama this year, we suck and are playing at the level of a MAC conference team...or take that back, a WAC conference team. Before yall bash the players, remember our QB has 14 tds, and only 2 ints on the year, and he didnt throw a td tonight... something Andrew Luck just completed after throwing 3 tds and an int tonight. Luck is just now 14 and 2 td and int ratio.

im pretty sure having corners that cant keep up with receivers on a fly route will torpedo any scheme.

that being said, i was dissapointed in the play calls, but i wouldnt say a joke

Undermanned team. Not big enough on the dline and to slow in the back seven. What's worse is that until we can actualy practice against a nicely sized dline our oline will be soft. We have de playing dt. Your only as good as the team you practice against

So it's Wilcox's fault we scored 12 points?

a cup of coffee when he was in the pocket. The number of hurries had to be 0. That is not, let me repeat not an SEC defense. If we are protecting not to get beat deep then put some friggin pressure on the QB. Wilcox and Dooley are overmatched it's just that simple.

Wilcox: Blitz? Whats that? what a joke. We got some big time talent on this team on D, draw up some schemes for them. Its your job coaches.:hi:

 We have youth throughout this defense.

The defense lost a big time talent in August. Other than that, every other starter on the defense does not represent "big time talent".

Wilcox has been here for 2 years with ****ty players. Shut the **** up already. We'll learn a lot about our coaching staff next year.

well it is a soft zone defense and what is up with the cushion the CBs give the WRs; i thought we had good DBs. We don't play aggressive defense at all. we lay back in zone coverage way to much. they look like kife tonight!! LSU and BAMA are gonna kick the crap out of us. it's reality

CDD and Co. have won every game they were supposed to win. I know we as Vol fans(especially those of us over the age of 30) have come to expect much more out of our team, but we ARE young and no we are not really that experienced. We have freshmen linebackers and a sophomore OL for Gods sake. Yes, the team looked out of sync tonight. That happens. It happens to the best of them. I remember a long drive home the night of November 9th, 1996. I remember December 8th, 2001, Nov. 19th, 2005, and Nov. 8th, 2008. These were all games we were supposed to win and didn't and a couple of them were embarrasing losses. At least we are winning the ones we are supposed to. It will get better. We are improving, but if this loss hurt everyone this bad, you all may want to crawl under a rock for the next two or three games because it's gonna get worse before it gets better.

You honestly can't make the youth argument in this situation. We were beat at least five times on deep routes. 2 out of 5 of those routes connected and the other 3 were just over throws. You would think after the first couple of times King beat our corners deep he would have at least put them in cover one and have a safety help with protection.

Hey op I'm 40 years old I'm assuming you are not old enough to remember Ken Donahues 1988 defense.

Where? We have a line that couldn't get any pressure all night, a linebacker core that is promising but young and prone to mistakes, and a secondary that just doesn't look very good - not good enough to play man-to-man while the help stuffs the run, at any rate.

I thought Wilcox's scheme tonight was to shut Crowell down and let Murray try to beat us. In a way, it worked: we limited the running game and Murray beat us. *shrug* It wasn't a dominant performance, but certainly respectable given the tools we're working with right now.

Defense did not do bad today, they had a couple of good stands. But I was disappointed when Wilcox turned Texas down, I really wanted him to take that job.

I would go pick up Chavis and help him move back to Knoxville.
