For Crompton to have played so well and no one be in position. Which coach Wilson said they didn't expect the timing that to be an issue and it was a big one, especially with Stocker and Cottam were either five yards to deep on the routes, or to short and the receivers running posts when they were supposed to run slants......That was big and crucial. This led to interceptions that put us in the hole.

But the Jones plays in the last five mins of the game that was not funny or good play calling, this guy has limited practice for 2 weeks and force you play to him in the last five mins of the game. I also thought the discipline was showing very short from the first game, but at least watching the Kiffin show Kiffin said they need to have better play calling. Failmer would have never admitted that.

you mean kiffin is not staying the course, or whatever fulmer would say?

I do think playing Jones and Moore effected timing. I am not so down on play calling as poor pass blocking and I am surprised there were not more turn overs the way Crompton was holding the ball in one hand still trying to make a pass as he was being tackled.

Yes the ball holding was making me very nervous. But compared to last season Crompton did very good, im just glad Kiffin admited he let Crompton down with not giving him the best options to be in on the field .
Fulmer would have never admitted that.

I read that as coach speak for, "I didn't realize how incrompitent this kid was".

I tend to agree with you. I think there may yet be a lot more growth as player in Crompton. I think what is critical is that the growth take place in the context of system for which he is suited. I don't think its fair to suggest that last year gave him much opportunity to grow as a quarterback. If anything all the confusion may have amounted to a set back.

In this context he has a respectable showing in the game against LSU where a missed fumble call cost us the game, a loss against Arkansas, managing a nice game against Kentucky, a high flying performance against WKU, and a tough loss against UCLA. I count the Kentucky game from last year because the offense reverted to system more suited to how Crompton plays the game. Not many options for any alternative approaches but I have not lost all faith.

Lane can only fall on the sword a few times for JC....that technique is tricky and will eventually be fatal.

Yesterday was just a continuation of last year IMO. WKU got me excited about the possibility that his performance had previously been a matter of coaching and was about to change. But yesterday he was back to his old form.

What will really bother me is if he really is the best we have. I trust our staff to put the personnel in that will give us the best chance to win, but man the others must really stink. I don't believe the staff will have the stomach to keep him in much longer if it continues.

Well im scanning the game for the 12th time, but if he's the best we have,WOW ! we are really SOL, and I bet they get more aggressive with QB recruiting! I watched the USC game and I see why Pete was so miffed on Sanchez leaving. Because that should have been a 56 to 7 or 3!
