I didn't get a very clear picture of our offense from the last scrimmage....

The biggest improvement has traditionally come between the first and second scrimmage. We had a game like situation to show us our weak spots and have had a chance to move toward correcting them, that's what I think we'll get to see.

True, we only have limited information to go on. But generally speaking, there were more negatives than positives from the first scrimmage being reported... O'Neal dropping a couple of TD passes, Vinson not having a catch, Hancock regressing... I'm guessing (hoping?) that the message reported from this weekend will be something along the lines of... few drops, crisp route running and awareness of spacing and getting separation, and several big plays by the WR group.

You're right. They'll use this week to see who comes around and how they respond to mistakes. This week they'll continue to refine the team. After this week's scrimmage, they'll focus reps on guys that will play against Cal... and the info coming out about who exactly that is may dry up.

Is this one of those "they're improving because they can't get any worse" deals?

According to Scout he only dropped one TD pass, and it might of been tipped.
