Why???!!!

You answered the question yourself- he's been hurt. Hard to return punts with a bad hammy.

He was practicing with the first team until his hammy got hurt.

He wil play against UGA.

He MAY play. Unless Taylor, Rogers, Briscoe, and Hancock can't do anything then don't expect them to put in someone with zero playing time this year. As far as kicks and punts, Coker and Creer will handle KR and Hef or Rogan will be at PR. We all know they want to put in our youth and speed, but this game is all about mistakes and who commits FEWER of them. GJ will be a SPECTACULAR player here at UT, just probably starting next year.

I hope so, but up to this point we can see that all our receivers have problems getting separation down field. Gerald Jones is not the immediate answer, but he does fit into the equation. I just don't see him being a factor until later in the season as he gets his game legs back.

That may be the case, and no one said Jones is starting.. But he is supposed to be on the field Saturday against UGA.

I want GJ on the field. By all means play him. Other than our freshman on defense though, our freshman on offense hasn't shown us anything thing to this point. If GJ can make plays, and we have seen the vids of him, then get him in there. The thing is though, do you really expect Cut to goto a freshman after Taylor, Rogers, and Briscoe have shown up to be the Meachem, Smith, Swain of this year?? GJ will have to earn his spot back, and if he CAN earn it then he deserves the chance to make plays.

whoaaaa nelly. Taylor, Rogers and Briscoe have played well this year, but they are definitely not playing up to Meachem, Smith and Swain status.

He earned his spot this summer. Briscoe has been keeping his seat warm.

I was just using a trio for a trio. I wasn't saying they were them, they are just this year's trio of receivers.

If dropping passes at key moments is "playing well", yeah Austin Rogers is All-American. Kinda like a WR version of Spencer McFumble.

Briscoe had more yards receiving in the Florida game than any other reciever we had. I don't think they will bench Briscoe for Jones.

Then you don't know what happened up here all summer long. Jones was in front of Rogers and Briscoe until he hurt his hammy.

Jones was also playing all three WR spots while Taylor, Briscoe and Rogers were only playing one.

That's interesting man, but hard to believe......let me re-phrase that, hard to swallow.

They all played different spots. Jones isn't the best WR on our team right now, he hasn't even seen the field but one or two plays this year. Don't take my posts out of context because I said "RIGHT NOW". If he ends up being our best receiver this year, then that's awesome and we have a playmaker, but that's a BIG IF at this point because he hasn't played a meaningful snap.

So did you think that Meachem was bad when he dropped key passes last season??

Rogers has dropped at least 7-8 balls this year, and that is only from what I can remember. You trying to group Rogers and Meach is moronic. Yes, he may have dropped some key passes last year, but not even near what Rogers has (or hasn't?) done this year.

Your a "What have you done for me lately" player evaluator aren't you?? :)

He caught everything thrown to him the first two games, no one can catch them all.

No, they haven't.

The best WR UT has RIGHT NOW is Lucas Taylor.

I did not say Jones was the best WR on the team, however he was going to play in front of 2 guys receiving a lot of playing time right now. What does that tell you?
